I'm so sorry to hear that. That is rough. You have had a really rough patch with your birds and genetic abnormalities recently. Hope you week gets better.

Just looks like there is a lot of work to be done with these GFF birds.

G'morning guys!!! Sorry Steph for your loss. I have to put my NL CL roo down today and looks like one of the hens might not make it either. I also have a part bart to put down with a beak growing in sideways. Welcome to Monday.

Oh, bleah! That's a miserable way to start a week. It's supposed to be decent weather for a few days, at least -- it's not much, but maybe it'll help make the week a little better from here?

Pictures are good! I have to go collect waterers to defrost and wash. Maybe today will be an outside picture day finally!

Just looks like there is a lot of work to be done with these GFF birds.

They talk a good game about preserving genetic diversity, but I'm afraid of the damage they may be doing in the meantime by producing hundreds of chicks from 5-10 imported birds. The whole U.S.'s stock comes from such a small gene pool.

Wow, I'm sorry you're having to start your week off like that. I know someone who was having cross beak issues in several breeds. It turned out to be an incubator issue.

I would help if my darned BLRW would get off their lazy bums. For the agonizingly long 3 week period to make sure eggs were pure, I was getting about 3 eggs per day from 4 girls. Now the "purity" period is over and I'm lucky to get 1 a day. What's up with that?!?

Me too. And not having to refill waterers twice a day because they're freezing, and warm happy chickens, and lots of eggs...

I know -- my girls started laying again late January and were doing fairly well, then suddenly about ten days ago slowed WAAAY down again and now the only ones giving me eggs at all are the two pullets. I don't get it.
