congratulations!I just walked out to the coop and found my mamma duck covered with little yellow fuzzy things!. I was 8 days late on my calculations! I need to write dates on ALL eggs even the ones that the hens are taking care of. Doh!![]()
Currently on the ground. The only nesting boxes I have I KNOW are not big enough for them. I told DH to try to build a little raised platform where they are laying to keep them off the ground. How big of a nest box do they need and how far off the ground should it be?figured I would move this to the chat thread....
KYTin, do you have the turkeys nesting area on the ground?
The box size will do it.So I received a shipping box with 2 serama from OR. shipping cost $39. I went to priority mail the empty box back...they wanted $46! How does that happen?!

Quote: dh built me boxes that are roughly 18" x 24"x 8" high with a bottom...they sit right on the ground. When I first put them in, they still laid on the ground, so I threw a couple chicken eggs in there so they would get the hint, it worked! so if you don't want to build boxes you could just take some 2x8's and kind of frame in the nest area, so they dont scatter the hay or whatever you use for material and put a couple eggs in there, that should help them.
In one pen I also took a plastic barrel and cut it in half lengthwise and nailed them to the wall of the pen, so they wouldnt tilt when they got in them....
Well I just got abandoned my wife left me at work to go and check on a new baby goat. My question is at what time did I fall behind a goat?
