I am setting a bunch of eggs tonight. If interested in trading for some chicks let me know. Definitely will have some more black coppers, blue coppers, splash coppers, also setting blue marans, and some swap eggs.
I like chicks

I did a bad, bad thing... My mom keeps asking if I'll have eggs for eating in spring. I told her that I'm trying to focus on breeding programs for show birds and rare birds. Well, I went to the feed store and they had 99 cent chicks. So, I bought 6 in hopes of having a small flock of layers.

thats not a bad thing, when I am hatching I use my Australorp extras and EE for eating what I dont hatch but sometimes it gets thin between selling and hatching. Believe it or not we have had to buy eggs for birthday party's(making cakes and stuff) we collect about 20-40 eggs a day and have to buy eggs at least twice a year.

Right! Unfortunately, I don't have a single bird that is laying age other than my geese who just started laying this week. I refuse to eat their eggs since they only lay like 30-40 in a year. So, we've been eating a lot of store eggs lately. I really miss the taste of a good, homegrown, quality egg. These are months away from lay, but it will be nice to have some good layers in addition to my new birds.

I'm with you both. 6 to 10 inches of snow is not my idea of an early spring. I got eggs shipped and eggs coming. My new bator is supposed to be here tomorrow. Keeping my toes crossed too!

No joke. I will be delighted if they're blowing this storm out of proportion. I've got lots of eggs coming this week.

Oh course, I'd take snow over the emergency/get in your basement now/tornado warning we got this morning. LOL, we all looked out the window like "Wha?" National Weather Service oopsied a test and texted the highest tornado threat level messages to everyone.

That is one of the things I do not miss about Florida, but I would almost kill to see those big oaks with the spanish moss draped all over, and the cypress trees....

Good thing you looked out the window and it wasn't raining. Can you imagine if there were light rain showers and they did that? Mass panic, anyone?
