Well, I seem to get better zip rates without chicks playing egg football with their trying-to-hatch little brothers and sisters, but this hatch at least my survival-to-htatch rate just plummeted...

Yeah, I've lost low pippers before who might have survived if they were on their sides, too. Still trying to come up with the ultimate solution!
Maybe putting a little paper towel folded to raise them up a bit?

OK. I still have some U of A eggs available for whoever wants them. I have seven molting and non-molting silver Phoenix large fowl. and a dozen Mottled Houdan eggs. Whoever takes these, I will definitely need to pay shipping, etc because I have had to buy additional wrapping materials and am going to be out of Paypal to pay for shipping. LOL Send me a PM if you want them. I sent anywhere from 6 to 12 to everyone on my list currently except Brad Selig as I ran out of Hamburgs. Sorry again, Brad.
Eggs are claimed, and I apparently can't count. I had 9 Houdans.

It's a 110. Now, I'm completely confused, because the guy's video does NOT match up to his wiring diagram at all. Not to mention, his wiring diagram doesn't match up with the wiring diagram from the actual thermostat. The thermostat has the two bays connected, his diagram does not, and when you wire to his diagram, the thermostat won't even turn on. I found out WHY my stupid relay was fried (THANK GOD I bought a second one because I was being impatient!!!) The rat's nest that was in there from the original wiring and then Ed's additional rat's nest had everything all funky. I completely removed my indicator light on the bator, which was connected to the main power source, AND the relay, and that's where the power came from to fry the relay. Now, my indicator light will not work, because I honestly don't know how to wire that in, HOWEVER, the thermostat, provided that I get this all correct the second time around, has it's own indicator light. Now, I have to figure out exactly how to connect the two bays in the thermostat together, when one is supposed to be a DC, and it's supposed to also be connected to the relay, which is AC... Since I'm literally electrically retarded, this is extremely difficult for me. I look at a simple light bulb connection, which I know is easy, and I can connect the idea that it's easy enough and should be simple, I am just missing some kind of connection in my head that tells me HOW to do it. I can't even explain why it doesn't make sense to me, lol.
Wow sounds like my FIL! Cranky old man, everything is a fire hazard to him!! He was an electrician and would get so frustrated with my DH he would just yell at him and walk away to not help him at all.
I bet if you step away from the whole project and don't think about it for even a couple of hours and then go back it might help a little. My dad was no electrician or a mechanic but he would show me when I was a kid how to do a lot of stuff. He always said if you got so frustrated you couldn't see straight, step away from the project until you didn't think about it, even if it took a couple of days. Then when you go back you can look at it with fresh eyes. I wish I could help out but while I could figure out something in front of me I don't know any of the proper terms for anything except tools. I use words like this "thingy" and that "thing-a-ma-bob". I am more mechanical than electrical. Maybe try to find a different tutorial on youtube on how to rewire it, they have a ton of help videos. Worse comes to worse could you buy a whole new wire harness and start over???

BTW I have absolutely no clue what you are staring at but usually isn't it one wire goes in and one wire goes out? even if you have to branch another wire out still one wire in two wires out? sorry just trying to help if I confuse you or don't make sense or just plain sound dumb just ignore me!

Well... My incubator is just about garbage. What work Ed did had to be taken all out. The wires he used were too big (housing wire) and have damaged my thermostat now too. The best that I can do is to hope that if I can figure it out, that it's not too far damaged to still work. He KNOWS that I won't give up on this. He knows how important it is to me. I think he basically just wants me to completely fry it and give up completely. Which, I don't know if he wants me to quit 100% on incubating eggs or what, since all bators are going to be wired the same way that he deems unfit... So, at absolute "best" if that's his intentions, is I spend $700 or $800 or whatever and have a new bator that still has the wiring that he dislikes... My best bet, is he's hoping that I just don't buy a new one and then he gets his way... Since I can't exactly afford a new incubator right now. Sometimes I wonder what's going through peoples' heads.

I'm taking yet another break from the bator. I can only handle so much frustration before I have to walk away. :/ That's usually the point where G swoops in and saves the day, but he's confused and he's confusing me further, because he wants to set it up without the relay or the ac/dc converter and go from there. *Sigh* I just need a moment to think about it, drink some coffee, smoke a cigarette and then get back to it.

Moral of the story, if you don't know anything about electricity besides that it can kill you, don't try upgrading an incubator, because in all honesty, it's not worth the hassle. Not having an incubator at all is worse than having one that spiked every several weeks. :/

Holy cow you have LIVE GRASS ALREADY?????? Or is that inside? We still have like 6 feet of snow to melt before we even START spring!
Oh, no....that is the wheatgrass I am sprouting for the goats in the bathroom!!!! LOLOL we don't even have grass like that when it IS spring. (dogs have pounded the lawn into hardpack)
