So now I am led to ask...what are the expectations for the hatch rate of shipped eggs? I consider 40-50% a good hatch on shipped, even with good packing. The condition of the shell doesn't tell you what's happening inside.

I get 100's once in awhile. I just hatched 12/15 golden lakenvelder. Then I had a bunch of niclely wrapped polish eggs they started weeping in 2 days. I think they washed them. I found 1 just before it exploded, I wound up pulling all but 3 not worth the risk.

Nope- he was born that way. Really----- 1/2 Nubain- 1/2 Alpine. He is now 2 weeks old and the ears are still 1/2 and 1/2. Really hoping someone thinks he is just too cute to pass up and buys him
We had a nubian that had that and she never grew out of it. Only it was her left ear, so we called her Left Turn(also because of "Left Tun Clyde"

). Maybe you should call this little one Right Turn!!!

Also I have a question about turkey eggs-do they have the same lockdown as a chicken-2 days before hatch? Is the humidity the same as chicken eggs?

Okay I have to ask for those of you who ship live birds. I just contacted a breeder who I've been in touch with in the past about getting an adult bird or two from him. He said if I want them shipped that it's an extra $50 on top of the $70 he wants to charge for shipping because of the time it takes to label box and bring them to the PO. Is out crazy that I think that's crazy?!?!?!?! I never charge people for the time it takes me to pack eggs or bring them to the PO. MAYBE an extra $1-2 if I'm doing a large order that uses a ton of bubble wrap but $50?

I lockdown my turkey eggs after day 24

I "think" I am all caught up on White orpington swaps, except for those that wanted them shipped on the spring. If there is anyone that is ready for them, please let me know. As soon as I get all these swaps out for them, they are going. I have a person that might want them, and would be great to free up the pen space for more colorful orps.
