It worked!!! It worked!!! There will be little black barties on the way soon!!!!
Ugh..... Baseball season starts already next month that mean trying to swing 2 boys in basbeall and my daughter with her tap dance class. They always have everything at the same time & day & 30 mins away from each other. Not looking forward to it. Dont know how i am gonna swing it when my youngest boy starts baseball too.
You sound like you're in the same juggling game as my family lol! Only difference is I have 2 boys AND a husband playing baseball. We live at the ballpark this time of year.
Okay I have to ask for those of you who ship live birds. I just contacted a breeder who I've been in touch with in the past about getting an adult bird or two from him. He said if I want them shipped that it's an extra $50 on top of the $70 he wants to charge for shipping because of the time it takes to label box and bring them to the PO. Is out crazy that I think that's crazy?!?!?!?! I never charge people for the time it takes me to pack eggs or bring them to the PO. MAYBE an extra $1-2 if I'm doing a large order that uses a ton of bubble wrap but $50?
That is definitely out of line. Yep, crazy.

That is way.... Too much for shipping. I wouldn't do it. They are crazy.

I am having the hardest time getting my incubator to reach over 50% humidity. Then I get those saran-wrapped chicks or crusty chicks. I keep staggering my hatches and I think that's the problem. I need two more incubators, its the only answer.

I don't ship live birds, yet. My opinion is that, that is nuts. What type of bird were you getting?

Oh good. He might change his tune after I let him know that I'm not the only one that thinks it's crazy. Madam did Jon Grice charge you extra for shipping your birds?

I was going to get a few extra White bresse from Jon Grice in CA. I know DH got us some extra birds and I'm pretty sure they were from him after the GFF incident but I know he didn't charge extra for those. Seems super greedy to me. Especially if you're writing off gas and postal supplies as business expenses anyway.

Yeah that is a bit silly. Most farms in TN have a carrier pickup. I do. Does not cost us a dime. I am just not sure that works with live fowl. Even so, you could run your shipments out when you went for supplies or etc.

Question for the wise and more experienced. I'm expecting a box-o-birds this week, which may (hopefully) include a few ducklings and turkey poults. Can I feed them chick starter and add something to it for more protein, or to I really need to buy flock raiser?
