OK, everyone.  I have to vent.  I just got off the phone from calling my son's endocrinology office.  I was calling to make sure they had the MRI results since the radiology tech told Andy the doctor would have them Monday.  We waited all day for the results.  The receptionist puts me on hold for 10 minutes, comes back and says yes the results are here.  I asked when we would here from the doctor.  Her response was Dr. Nuttha is out of the office and won't be back until after April 1st.  AAAHHHH!!!  I asked calmly for another doctor to give me the results.  I was told there wasn't another one.  I then said my son has been diagnosed with a tumor.  We want results.  She told me me oh, you haven't heard them?  NO.  She is going to have the nurse call me.  I said my son is a senior in college, spring break is next week, we were hoping to have the surgery that week.  She just said I'll tell the nurse that is what you would like.

I'm giving here 60 minutes and calling back.  Am I being unreasonable to expect that a doctor shouldn't leave a patient with a brain tumor hanging for 2 1/2 weeks waiting on results from a MRI and scheduling surgery?

I am about to lose it here.

Now the nurse is telling me she can't locate the paper where my son signed for them to release info to me.  I've been the main contact through the whole process.  I had to call him on his way to his Capstone meeting to call them.

I HATE our medical system.  I know it is better than a lot of other places, and I should be thankful for good insurance and access to doctors, but I shouldn't have to do their jobs.

Wow, just wow. It's ridiculous that you're having such a difficult time with this!

Well, we did get the MRI results. It is as good as we could hope for now. The mass is only 3mm which is the very bottom of the scale. The next step is more testing to find out what type of growth it is and then we have three treatment options depending upon those results. It can be treated with medication, a couple of different radiation types or surgery. The nurse told my son they will monitor it for 6 months. I don't accept that because something will have to be done to stop the progression of his wait gain prior to that because he is gaining 10+ lbs a month, but we will have to wait until the Dr. gets back after April 1st to find out anything more. I called to see if we could get him in to another doctor but it takes a referral from existing doctor, a review of the tests, and then the decision to schedule an appt. The earliest available appt is April 24th and there are several referrals already in line for that time period. For now we are in limbo but at least know that it isn't life-threatening and has to be very slow growing. Thanks for all the prayers and positive thoughts.

Less then a month!!!! My hubby will be home in less then a month!!!

Whooooop!

I am glad to hear you ended up with your best of the case scenario. When did these particular symptoms that got the dr to finally order the MRI start showing? How did they decide it was slow growing? I would think 6 month moderation is too long to go without any type of treatment.
The news must have been a great relief. Just to know what you are facing is helpful, even if it still isn't something you'd hope to go through. :hugs
You are a strong woman. For me, I have panic attacks at the first sign of a fever, and can't fathom my reaction for something that merits a panic attack. :hugs

I just put up the kennel panels for my salmon Faverolle run. No easy feat to do by myself an with two crazy little boys getting in the way. I ende up telling the oldest to go play in dirt  and strapped the baby to the seat we put on the 4wheeler for him.
Now I have to build the night time coop. Wish I had a trustworthy inlaw nearby to play with the kids inside while I do it!

That's wonderful news that it isn't very progressed. I hope the doctor comes up with a more definitive treatment plan for him quickly!
