  Can you say FREEZER  !!
   You say he is your breeder, now mind you I know NOTHING about goats.  BUT, isn't temperment somewhat hereditary. Why would you take a chance on reproducing that temperment, possibly at the expense off someones elses safey.         just my thoughts

. Temperament is heritable to a point. Enough so that when the ram that tried to kill me left, so did all of his offspring. Yum. Yum.

He is....too skinny to be an Orpington! I just got a phone call from Will at Whitmore Farms. My chicks got express mailed today and will be here Wednesday! WooHoo!

Hubby, is also fighting me on the matter of freezer with him, but he is not the one that has to deal with him.

I would tell hubby that either the goat goes in the freezer or he does. Which stud you think he's gonna want to keep?

Our generally happy, sweet and very dumb 1 year old Rottweiler just bite my son on the face.



I feed the dog in the bathroom, so they baby doesn't mess with him while he is eating... Aka eat his food... The baby is asleep and so I left the door open, the four year old was supposed to bed too. Heard a blood curdling scream, and my sons inner lip is punctured.

I am so heartbroken because now he has to go. Don't know if we should give him away, making clear why he has to go, or what. I am going to miss him so much it hurts.

So sorry to hear that. I had a dog bite someone one time. When I consulted the dog officer I was told that even if you give the dog away and fully disclose the bite they can still try to come back at you if something should happen. Its a very hard decision though. Hope your son will be alright.

I can not believe I almost messed up bad. I have had some Marans eggs in the incubator for.....12 days now. I know I am brand new at this and I know they are hard to see even to the experts but on all the other eggs there is almost a definite darkness no matter the darkness in shell and then all the blues (except 1) were pefectly clear as day. So I figured the ones that were clear would stay clear so I figured might as well take them out right. So as I was taking them out I was candling each of them just to make sure and I can't believe it one that previously LOOKED clear just yesterday I can see a little round spot in there moving on it's own!! Of course it was the last one! So I put them all back!! I think from now on until I get this candeling thing on Marans eggs down pat I will just leave them all in!! Maybe I was right and most of them are clear but as my dad always says "You can be right, but then you can also be dead right!" I am so happy I have amother blue growing.


Could it be the eggs? All of the splash and only one of the blues seemed to start quickly but the others looked clear up until I saw this one. Could it be shipping I know shipping is the cause for practically everything that goes wrong but this too? Could it be my incubator? It's brand new and I have two thermometers in it. Could it just be I am a newbie and just can't see it?

I know I should count my lucky stars that ALL my splash are developing but I was hoping for at least half and half-you know half the blue and half the splash not just half of the shipment. And I AM happy all the splash are developing. I am tickled that it is possible that I could get 50% hatch rate on these guys. I was really worried there for a minute that I wasn't even going to get that.
