Hatching Eggs / Paypal CHAT Thread

you should have seen all of the peafowl and mandarin duck egg auctions in January.
The problem I see with it is that there are a couple of people here who have the breeds he has listed that are much older than his, but because he has presales listed he will be getting the top dollar for them and when others are listed that are available now, they won't bring as much, because they weren't the first listed. It is still a violation of Ebay rules, yet they haven't taken the auction down.

Now it is my turn to rant a little:

I have a few searches saved for hatching eggs on Ebay. A couple of days ago I got a notice that there is a result for my search for Bielefelders. Someone has a presale of hatching eggs that will be shipped AFTER September 20! Ebay has a rule against offering presales-it must be shipped within thirty days, so they have the estimated arrival as April 30. I reported them for violation of the rules, but nothing has been done about it. Now today I got a notice that there is a Partridge Barthuhner egg auction up (for delivery after October 1st) from the same person!

Quote: I don't think they will take the auction down, they do the same thing with irises every year. I am sure there are other things they do the same on, I only know irises because I have bought some over the last few years-bought them in Feb-April and got them in July-August.

IDK for here in TN.... maybe 10 acres here to get the exemption from the state.  Not sure about the IRS part..... I will say this the IRS will not allow you to claim anything if you call it a HOBBY FARM.  They think it is your HOBBY and not a JOB or a Working FARM.   Trust me mine is a JOB... Full Time too.

Uh oh! Guess I have to change our name! Maybe it would be funny if I just painted a big ol' slash mark through the hobby part hahaha.

I know we have AG exempt just for having the pine trees on our property. It has to be a percentage of the land we own, we have ten acres, an I want to say it had to be 20%.
TSC told me I just need to bring them in a number to get the tax exempt. Not sure it would do me any good because I only buy flock raiser and chick starter there...

Wow, I love all the discussion of business. I really hope to turn my hobby into a business some day so this is all very helpful and interesting information for me. Thank you for sharing your experiences!
