If you buy Houdans (or Polish or any other breed for that matter), more than likely they are not pure anyway. Houdans need some serious breeders to keep they where they should be.

The Chicken Train is still moving! Doubleatraining picked up kraftyladies roo today. I'll go fetch him tomorrow. He'll stay in my quarantine house until she comes up in May, but we'll give him some feminine company until then.

I'm really tickled to be a part of the Train, no matter how small a part!

 I'm so sorry you had that happen. I can't even imagine! I panicked for a second but I haven't sent you eggs in over a month nor have I had any that explode. Two exploded and more were weepy? That's not a good sign at all! I can only imagine the mess and the loss of eggs.   Big hugs!

Oh and those moose eggs are all mine. LOL

Crystal sent me some Bantam Buttercup eggs and when I told my son he looked them up on the Internet. He found a rooster that he said looked like a moose through his comb. He wanted a rooster that he could call Moose. Especially with it being a bantam he thought that was so funny. He's only nine. At that age they come up with all kinds of things. I'll have to see if I can find some more so I can get him his tiny Moose.

This was the last one to hatch and he's been in with some turkeys, so he's getting game bird starter. He's bigger than all the rest. My son calls him Porky, and since he's with the turkeys he's quite tame. I think every chick should have turkeys teach it how to behave around the hands. Crawl in for a hug!

I don't know if I signed up for the Easter swap or not. I know I wanted to do it but my dad's wife is having a birthday party for him

and my brother just told me about it today. The party starts at 4-5 so most likely won't be back until 6 or 7 and at that point my girls will have to go to bed

. So I guess I will just be reading back over what happens that night!

That's ok because I have already spent waaaay to much on eggs.

I am so close to swapping eggs, I have 6 of my own buff Cochins in the incubator with 100% fertility even when not collected for 5 hrs in 25 degree weather! The only thing is they are all from the same hen my other hen isn't laying yet. And I have 8 Blue Bantam Cochin eggs and NONE are fertile!! arggggggh! I think I have to have a talk with my roo!
