I believe I am done for the day.  My back is screaming but at least half of the compost pile has been restacked.  It's amazing the critters living in it.  Tons of worms and saw loads of centipedes too.  Had to be careful.

Gosh, I would make my hubby go turn that for you if I lived near. Well that and if he were home. Thankfully we have caring neighbors here, and awesome customers that check up on us all the time. They don't want to loose their fresh egg and meat source!

We watched a fox come down the hill towards the hikes coops today. Couldn't get down our hill fast enough, but I don't think he was after a chicken as nothing was disturbed. Will have to keep a better eye though.

Well eggs are washed. Turned out to be twenty five dozen large and seven dozen small. They left me with four eggs. Yeah, feed money!

Went and met CrazyPetLady today to pick up some swaps! It was a pleasure meeting her and looking forward to seeing the eggs hatch. I also picked up the mystery chicks I claimed! Here are some pics. If I remember correctly trio of rhodebars, pair of CCL, pair of tolbunts, a russian orloff, and a basque!

Thanks again for the beautiful birds!

Beautiful babies you have there!

Us too. I hate snow!

We sing this little ditty to lighten the mood.

Oh the weather outside is crappy
I think I'll just go and take me a nappy
I hate snow I hate snow I hate snow

Course I usually don't get the chance for the nap, but someday I will.

I now have kraftyladies beautiful black English Orpington cockerel installed in quarantine. He's magnificent! I already claimed eggs from him! He's also gentle. I was hand-feeding him right after I moved him in to quarantine, and he had no qualms about accepting my offer.

Now, if krafty doesn't make it up here in May............. :)

Well, I checked on the lockdown eggs when I got home. Five of six Barnevelders from Pysankygirl had already hatched, but not even a pip from the other. I candled it and realized the air cell was on the side. It must have slipped in shipping and I hadn't picked up on it before. At any rate, I broke into the air cell to see how it was...and the poor thing had died. It just wasn't going to be able to do an internal pip like that.

From two claims of Pysankygirl's Barnies, I now have ten chicks total. That's pretty dog-gone good!

If she doesn't come, then you are going to send me some eggs from him and his new girlfriend, right?
