candled and pitched a bunch of shipped eggs yesterday. Hate having eggs with no growth at all, I can accept bloodrings, but nothing? Thats a real downer

When you have eggs that don't develop, and they are shipped eggs, how likely is the problem due to the PO handling versus fertility issues with the parent birds? As fertility rate changes over time, how often should eggs be checked for fertility?

If you are sure it's a hobo spider, I would kill it.  I would think you could find some type of spray at home depot or walmart.  At least that's what we would do.  Or take an old broom to knock the web down and watch for the spider.  How large are we talking?

We typically don't kill spiders but I don't relish the thought of hobos in the house. I have her in a quart sized mason jar because our landlord won't get anyone out here if she doesn't see it herself.

I recieved one of my egg swaps. Thanks. What breed of chicken laid the beige egg?(top all the way to right)
Yes sorry. I literally grabbed it out of the nest box and didnt have anything to mark it with as I packed it in te car. So its SUPER fresh :lau its an olive Egger. I hope it's a girl! I've got some from these at POL. I can't wait to see what color they lay. I have a feeling it will be sort of a kalamata color.

Wow, nasty little thing. We don't kill spiders either but I won't allow a known killer to stay alive here. If I find a black widow, it's dead. Most of the rest will stay alive, just moved to a different location.

Yay, for great, helpful neighbors! I have one with a bucket who comes over and moves my compost pile whenever I ask. Won't take anything for it......I think he likes to play with his tractor and doesn't get much of a chance to!
