For me it was for breeding purposes....and my toms aren't aggressive, well unless it's breeding season and then only with each other.

Great thanks! I was hoping to have them in with my layers and it looks like I can

just keep an eye on them of course....if they get aggressive, I would think it would just be with the roo's if you have any with your layers. the turk hens might get aggressive with the chicks though....

Ok, well my Toms have never been aggressive, but they have been confused. With my first Tom I have him and my three hens all the same age. When he started feeling his manliness, he and the shes just could quite figure it out at first. It was so sad to see his failed wooing techniques. He took to trying the mate them while I was cuddling them on lap. Yeah....not so much. At the same time, he was in with chickens of a similiar age who were coming into their henliness and would continually try to squat for him (I don't have a rooster). I chased him off a few times....but this was not his fault....they were nothing but a tease. Anyway, this could be a random concern right a puburty. But my Toms have never been anything less than gentlemanly.

ETA: It sorted itself out as soon as the turkey hens got the dance down and now they all have right and proper poultry relationships.

Check with your local ag extension office. If you have Blackhead in the area it's up to you to take the risk. We don't house them together or even in the same area, but since we free range and turkeys are curious little buggers they will come down the hill where the chickens and horses are at. Some of the chickens will come up the hill to raid the gardens, but they take the long way because if the turkeys see them the chase is on. Many people house them together with absolutely no issues. I just like mine up near the house cause I loves em.

Thank you! I am in love with all mine already

Yup! They rehabbed a little better than my nephew's runner ducks did from cross-species love. Here is the craigslist post I wrote up for him:

A couple of very bad boys..... (Oakdale)

Hello!

Last year I gave my nephews a pair of "breeding" fawn and white runner ducks. They were hand raised and have grown up to be incredibly handsome, friendly and funny drake runners. As you have guessed my "breeding" pair seems to have become a couple of rowdy frat boys. They seem to have developed a troubling and unhealthy interest in my nieces laying chicken hens. Thus, the lover boys are in need of good home in which they may be able to redirect their breeding energy in a form more suitable for a drake runner. Runners are small ducks that make excellent layers, but poor meat. Please let me know if you would like to rehome these little bad boys and give them a more wholesome lifestyle for a self-respecting runner duck. Rehoming to a cross-species rehab is free.

When I texted my 15-year old nephew to tell him I had located a great home for runner boys with a couple of cute girls. He asked me if I could find him a coupl eof cute girls too..... I guess its the males in every species!!!
