blue sex link??
Aha!! I ordered Black Sexlink. That is probably it. Thanks!!! We gotta work on the codes for us newbies and those who are a little, well a lot, ADHD.....

Uhm well I just got a box of CCL from Madamwlf. She double boxed, great insulation, eggs in a well-fitted small box inside a large F/R box. Eggs were in FOAM. The outer box had puncture marks in it, and 3 of 7 eggs were cracked. The box must have been forcibly thrown to do that. I 100% blame the USPS on that one. Box wasn't marked at all (marked ones tend to be targeted).
I double boxed and shipped 18 eggs to another BYCer last month. 7 of those eggs were cracked, and those only traveled 300 miles in the state of MT. One "Fragile" PS sticker on the top. The outer box was destroyed.
I have gotten boxes that have been obliterated while marked "Fragile/Hatching Eggs/Live Embryos/etc." Only once was it the packer's fault.
That is a male. He is grey, females are dark brown and black. Also, he has a large spot of white and no eyeliner. I still would not breed him though-you want a male that is light in color, while females should be very dark brown with distinctive lighter or chestnut strips, and a dark "eyeliner" running back from her eyes. If he is the only male, use him, but keep us posted as he grows.
Rhodebars are red-he also looks like a Jaerhon female.
I am almost 100% sure it is a male, however, he is a lot darker than he should be.
Well, I do. It just gets complicated for my ADHD brain when I don't know all the letters. I get a lot of boxes and some people don't mark the eggs. And most don't their user name on the box. So I have to go back and cross reference if someone has a listed location on their profile and compare it to the return address label and try to guess who's box it might be. It is really challenging!! It is easier if I get a DC, but not everyone remembers to send one. So I have three boxes sitting on my table and I am not positive who they are all from because I only know their user names and two of them are hen's choice. Is there a way we can try to mark the boxes with our user names so we know who it is and that we can all try to lable the eggs?you really should write down what you order, from who![]()

did you get the others?
Quote: The spot on top of his head is small, but there looks like another spot on it's neck. I have gotten two males that were really dark like that and one was culled for a cross beak. The second one I marked so I could watch as he grew. He died this winter at about 8 weeks old, but he was still very dark. I had to look closely to distinguish him from the Barred Rocks that were the same age.
As you say, time will tell.![]()
I would love to see what the other Legbar fanciers say about him/her too.
You're really fortunate if you haven't had most of your boxes beat to hell... I can't remember the last time I got a box that didn't have a corner smashed in or a puncture hole. It's terrible.I'm just saying that the PO takes a lot of blame that might lay elsewhere. I rarely get a beat up box. Even detatched aircells aren't super common. while the PO might be responsible for a lot, we can't blame everything on them. Usually hatchability is good any other time of the year.

I think it may have something to do with the sorting centers too. People have had awesome luck hatching my eggs. While I would love to take credit for all of it, it probably has more to do with the MN sorting center. Also, I think out PO trucks for priority mail are heated and it is likely (even in the coldest shipping area) that because we heat most everything in the Twin Cities that they do better. This would make a difference. My hatch rate from shipped eggs has been steady at 50-60%, with some boxes developing 0 and some 100. But, higher than some of your reports. As evidenced by my escade last night, it is not due to my stellar incubating skilles. And this is with eggs left on my front step with below freezing temps.Crystal I have nine beautiful moose eggs waiting on the dining room table for my son. About 4:10 this afternoon you should be able to feel the love.
On the shipping note....I just candled the remaining eggs from a purchase. None made it. I purchased some Midget eggs from a lady I previously got some from. I like to keep adding and improving genetics and she has two very nice lines. Last year she sent 18 eggs of which I hatched 12. All eggs were shipped great with no damage and all developed to some stage. This time around was way different. 5 eggs were she'll damaged, but not torn though the membrane. I sealed with high hopes. She sent me 15 eggs. None developed. I know her stock and her reputation. I also know that the cost can get prohibitive. I will try one more time in the hopes of some poults. It's just a gamble. I sent eggs to a guy in Ohio. All developed, I think it was 15, but only 10 hatched of which he lost three. He keeps having issues with that so I'm guessing he needs to reassess his brooder set up and management.
For me I'm going to see if the local courier will deliver. I know they deliver fresh eggs to my parents in MN, and their routes used to cover a pretty large area up here. I'm pretty sure I could send to Profti and a few others through them, but need to do a bit more research. Otherwise I guess I'll just keep throwing the dice and see what I get. I much prefer eggs turning into chicks to adults, but take what I can get.
