I'm sorry your poor girl was injured. I sure hope she is a fighter and makes a full recovery! Now that is a whole lotta turkey love!
I used super glue early last winter when I sliced my leg open. I had a trailer door slam down on me and cut my leg pretty deep. We had no insurance, so I had to do something. I recalled that super glue was used in emergency situations. Worked for me really well, and the scarring was minimal.
Cool! I would love to have a goosey hatching buddy!

We can learn together! I have high hopes for these geese - they're to replace a pair that we had to send to freezer camp because they got downright vicious. They were hatchery african x's. I really want a couple (or three) nice geese for pets. africans like my Chinese are not the nicest calmest geese. They do however make quite the racket when strangers abound and eat weeds in the garden :gig

Glad you could figure it out! I'm only good with Dr. Seuss-style building... :hugs What a tough day you've had. Tomorrow will be better. I promise.

Thanks! I'm really hoping so.
Good morning we had a bad possum problem last year we killed about five and 3 were mothers with up wards of 18 to 24 ugly nannies, glad they didn't make it. We lost over 18 chickens over 3 months all rare breeds they seemed to have a taste for the finer things in my barn. I have nit heard fromCPL she must be busy with her birds
So far it's 5 dead opossums to eight dead chicks. The chicks were just mutts and momma still has her one. Silver the previous injured girl is healing fine. We finally got her eye open and she does have and eye still in there. Her neck is healing up already so that's good. Miss Daisy Mae, the latest injured hen is still ALIVE as of this morning. She still can't have solid foods or even food, but has been drinking a little high vitamin water. She also has some color back in her skin. I'm amazed!
That is insane!!! So sorry...I would be raising a huge fuss with that seller!!!
You and me both.

Just an update…I am coming to terms with the whole MG thing. It is not the end of the world. And because it is so mild of a version of it, (just the occasional sneeze) I am not going to even medicate at this point. Why risk it developing a resistance to the Antibiotics? I may need them later to be as potent as possible if a bird is weakened and becomes susceptible for some reason.

I have unsubscribed from all of the swap threads…even if I offer paypal or pysanky, I can’t just hatch willy-nilly and figure I can get rid of anything in excess of what I want to keep for myself. I have to be more judicious l because once they are here they have to stay here or go to freezer camp. (maybe I will name my farm “hotel California farm!”)

And now I can just love my chickens for who they are, not worry about breeding criteria and making the best choice of who to keep to breed. They all lay eggs, right? And if I want to get a chicken breed because it is pretty, I will get just one to add to the colorful bouquet that is my flock.
I will never have to separate anyone out for breeding. They can all free range all the time. Much simpler day-to day.

Yeah, it isn’t what I planned. I can’t contribute to helping the dorking breed become what they once were or become a respected Barnevelder breeder. I cant play with newly hatched chicks on a regular basis. But life doesn’t always go the way you think it will and I am a lot luckier than a lot of people. I am going to stay subscribed to this thread because I like you guys way beyond just the swapping thing. Yes, I am sad I can’t join in, but I can still share your lives in a small cyber way and I consider myself lucky to have found this group.

And who knows….maybe they will discover a cure someday!
So sorry you are having to go through this. Give them 2 tbsp ACV (braggs with mother) per gallon of water. Glad you are staying on the thread, I find this a great support group and a great group of friends.

Well, now I think they are sick. I was just cleaning the poo up off the floor from them and a couple of piles have blood in the stool.

Reese, this is what I would do. Once you get the chicks settle take that box and go see your post master. It should have never been accepted at their post office. Tell him you want to make a complaint to the post master of this individual's post office. I mean, how many other boxes have they shipped like this? It's very unacceptable.

I have 2 Emu eggs, empty, clean, and available if anyone wants to get crafty with them and sideswap. they have to go in a LARGE priority box so i can pad them and stuff the insides to keep them safe
