hope all is going well!

As for Campbell's, well we have one hen we call squishy. She always looks like she just ate one of the other ducks. Huge crop on that girl! She's funny and likes to sass us like the geese. So she will wibble wobble back and forth with her head down like she's threatening us and all you can do is laugh because she's so funny. If you go to catch her she sits down and acts all cute and sweet. That is until you set her squishy body back down. Then she's all sass again.

Ducks are really fun to own, although not so fun when little - very messy!  But sooo cute that you have to overlook that part.  I thought I wanted Runner ducks until I actually owned some, and they were nervous nellies.  No fun at all.  Now, my Rouen and the Pekin/Rouen mixes are adorable, even almost all grown up!  Super friendly, talkative (not like my Muscovys who stand around quietly thinking deep thoughts) and unafraid.  Rouens rock.  Well, the scovies are pretty awesome too, and pretty - just quiet.

ETA:  Just read Flocksalot's post, and I forgot to mention my 3 Khaki Campbells, who will eat out of my hand, how could I forget that?!

So to sum it up:  Everyone needs turkeys, ducks, bantams and big 'ol fat chickens of any variety.  To start with, at least. :gig

Lol!
So mascovies are like the beatnik poetry of the fowl world.

My five birchen marans are in their brooder tonight. So excited some hatched! These are one of the main breeds that I have wanted. Well, all the breeds that I have swapped for are the top of my list. Some have been bumped down a bit though. Anyhow, so super excited to finally get a hatch from shipped eggs. The first four are rowdy, fat, and healthy. The fifth one that I had to unglue...she is a bit runty and ....special. So far she is quite happy with food and water though, so good thing there.
