Hatching Eggs / Paypal CHAT Thread

Most of the difficulties with claiming future eggs were resolved with the new rules that you have to specify when you can send them. I know when I first started I also unknowingly claimed eggs from hens that were just chicks.

One of the rules to remember about all swaps is not to swap more than you can afford to lose.

Currently my list of eggs owed me is above my comfortable threshold and I've been in contact with some of those people, but like you I've been told one they would/could ship and they haven't yet. I don't want to hound anyone, but I think I'm going to adopt the practice of contacting all my spring egg swaps weekly. Until my list is smaller, I'm not going to be claiming any eggs that can't be sent immediately.

Just my two cents.

On another note, does anyone have rhodebars that are of laying age now? I hatched two roosters this spring and I'm trying to decide whether or not to hang on to them until fall in hopes that more eggs will pop up on the swap, or let them go and start over in the fall. (I claimed 1 set of late summer/early fall eggs)... Having a hard time justifying feeding the roos when I don't have any potential hens in the near future...

Am I the only one that is wondering when spring is supposed to happen , I took a lot of swaps over the last 8 months that were supposed to ship in spring and havent heard anything from those folks unless I contact them, shouldnt you update someone if you owe them something , maybe I'm the only one who thinks this way , I get excuses when I ask about whats going on with the swaps I claimed , is anyone else concerned ? never did like this idea of swapping egg's before they are laid seems like I remember hearing something about "not counting your egg's"
Just wondering if I am the only one.
Normally I go and look at people's swap pages. Alot of people do not have theirs updated though. Everyone's should be up to date at least to 4/1, but alot are not. I think it makes it easier if you do.
I had planned on getting most of my spring list done, then if I had not heard from anyone yet.. I would just PM them.
I do try to stay in contact with my list of owed swap's, but am guilty of forgetting to PM one or two.

Seriously Spring runs until the first day of Summer. So people have until then to get their swaps out. For me, I had 3 broody bantam orp hens. I'm hoping the move broke them but it will still be weeks before they start laying again.

with the weather this year for so many laying has been screwy at best. Spring is spring until summer comes..........so spring swaps arent late until summer is officially here on the calender.

However, again we cant fix what we dont know is broken. So if you stew to yourself and dont let the moderators know nothing can be fixed. If you stew in place of emailing/PMing asking for an update then fault is on both swapper and swappee. Humans make mistakes, and should be permitted to fix those mistakes. When they dont then is the time to be upset.

Our Columbian Cochin pen is giving eggs, but we moved them this morning so now I am

it doesnt throw things off too much

oh and not everyone is following the swap rules of setting a swap page and listing their swaps owed to and from and listing their breeds ect. Its a work in progress, and we are on the honor system here and all adults.

just put eggs in the incubator and I have out of 24 red bourbon turkey eggs 3 piped- 3 not pipped and all the rest hatched.  Today is day 28 and I was not expecting them to be hatched yet!!  Doing the happy turkey dance!!!  Can they be fed non-medicated chick feed for the first week or do I need the Turkey/game chick feed?

Yeah I'm owed eggs from September but I think I'm giving up.

I claimed one of the first swaps on the second reincarnation of this thread. Those eggs just hatched this week. (This is the third reincarnation) mind you I chose not to ship in November and December. You should get your eggs. But, might be bes to pm the mods as well to get ducks in a row.

This reminds me I should pm my other outstanding swaps!
