If they are not getting better they are not drinking.hand water them stronger stuff.

Its not uncommon for them to be too sick to drink by the time you notice.

That or you have ecoli not cocci.

Sigh.  I found my sweet little 4 week old Frizzle Tolbunt dead in the sick room last night.     I though everyone was doing better, they didn't seem as puffy feathered.  He wasn't even the sickest looking of the bunch.  Krafty's BBS Amer and my Russian Orloff are in there too....  I haven't been out yet this AM and I'm afraid to look.

Anyone got any other ideas/hints for getting through Cocci?  I am using the Sulfamaxitone (sp?) at the severe dosage in the water. 

When I get this batch better, would you all recommend treating the dirt in that pen or I can put a floor in and get the next batch off the dirt.  What's better?  I now have my current 1 week chicks in the house on medicated to help the next situation, the ones out on the Sulfa are on regular chicks feed. 

I think my issue was they went out earlier, 3 weeks, than the first group, 5 weeks, who was in there, that batch never had an issue, and I ran out of chick starter for a couple days and put them on all poultry crumbles that have no probiotics, maybe that was just enough for the Cocci to take hold.

warning.....Gable you may hear about me on the news.....................Memphis lost a box of goslings. They "swear" the night girl scanned them at 3:30 am this mornign and shipped them on.

Ummmm......yeah. They are probably hanging out with my chicks. I got a letter from the post office about the stolen birds too. It sounds like they may actually so something about it. How is noone noticing that ALL of these problems seem to be in Memphis???

I would say because the memphis hub is actually a Fedex hub. I bet most don't know live birds are routed through fedex.

USPS is KNOWN for being notified of live birds and leaving them on the dock for hours up there before getting them and moving them along, or bothering to put in a proper location while waiting

Good morning everyone! I find out today if I got the assistant managers position at work! I also find out what is wrong for sure with my car. We sent it in last night and we think the timing chain broke but we are not 100% sure. The chevy dealer I sent it to told me he should know what is wrong with it early this afternoon. Hopefully those both turn into some good news later. Other than that I am off all weekend so lots of chicken and horse chores to do! Need to clean out 2 pens in the chicken barn and need rto clean the entire horse barn top to bottom. Anyone want to come help? Hope everyone has a good day today!!

I'm not sure what you are using to treat them but I use Corid. If I have some that look bad, I give them a small dose straight in their beak. If they are really sick you can not be sure they are drinking the water to get the medicine. You can put sand down. That's what we did for the silkies we had. I don't use medicated feed at all. It usually pops up around here when it rains alot.

x2! I use a dropper or small syringe to give them a few doses. I mix the Corid in kefir. You can use plain yogurt if you don't have kefir.

I told my hub to let memphis know they have until 2 pm my time to find them or I am calling the Memphis news channels to tell them about the mail theft of expensive birds shipping through there. As well as the admitance of birds sitting for 2 days or more being bounced off of flights to give dry ice priority.

It is so frustrating to read about this! Poor little goslings!

Just unpacked nj eggs from cjwaldon. The PO folded in one side of the box, but all 6 eggs are intact! Thanks Candice!
Every single airsac is ruptured, which is a bummer... But I won't turn them and see if that helps. It looks like the literally three the box on the ground as hard as they could to fold the side of the box like they did. It's not even the corner dented, it is the entire side rippled.

And I can't exactly replace them any time soon becuase these girls are taking slacking to the extreme. I've collected a whole 3 eggs from the 7 ladies since I shipped that box to you. However, I can send you some autosexing project eggs. PM me if you want some of those.
