Those bantam Welsummers are calling my name, lol
You should answer their call then. :). I missed out on your CCL the first time last night, and hesitated when you offered them again, and missed them again!

How are cream legbar eggs different from Ameraucana eggs in color and size? And are they friendly chickens. I have one hatchery Ameraucana/EE pullet and she not friendly at all.

CCLs are awesome friendly! I rearranged pens last night and was able to carry 3 or 4 pullets by myself, holding them against my chest. They were a little unnerved but went with the flow. They shook their feathers once after I released them, then it was back to business as usual.

Ok, back to stalking . . .

I second that! One of mine is always the first one there to greet me and she loves being petted and picked up! I don't normally pick up my birds, but she just begs to be!

I have some juveniles together with Leghorns and Ameraucanas. The Leghorns are flightly and the Ameraucanas don't want anything to do with me. I have to shuffle my feet to avoid stepping on the Legbars. I have noticed that the male CCLs are more outgoing, curious, and friendly than the females. I will sit in the pen just to watch and the male CCLs are always the first ones checking me out and jumping on me, climbing up, up, up. And when a couple of the males got out, they let me walk right up to them and scoop them up again. Actually, I had a Houdini last week. He kept coming to me! over and over. It took several escapes before I found the hole in the fence. Too bad that one isn't a keeper, too much crest messing up his comb.

Now I'm confused. The rules say wait 3 months, but there is a mention in a post of grandfathering people in. Does that supercede the 3 month rule? If so, I can join. If not, then I have to wait 2 more months...

ha! Either I'm spoiled by silkies raised in my office ( I have about 12 chickens that want to ride on my foot. have you ever seen foot fights? if they could see each other it might be serious!) or my CL are defective!

Mind you I have only had them for a month. And its more that they fly EVERYWHERE and are escape artists and hate sleeping low. So every night we have to move them into the coop, they will only sleep on the roofs. They let me pick them up, but they don't run to me or try and snuggle. Orlando is a fantastic rooster, however, he is fanatic about finding food and bringing the girls over. And he puts his wings out to protect them when there are birds overhead. But he bites. How a chicken manages to bite without it hurting not peck, I don't know, but he does.

They are due to start laying in a few weeks, so I'll have more comments on the eggs then. I have one crested and one non crested hen, I must admit I like the crested better, Liv is such a pretty chicken!

But, I still say silkies are the friendliest chickens ever.

yes if you traded on the old thread you may trade on the new thread with less than 3 months. Those with less than 3 months that did not trade on the old thread must wait 3 months to trade on the new thread. I will compile a list in the morning from the old thread and post it. You are on your honor to know if you swaped already.

If you have traded on the other thread, you are grandfathered in. If you havn't, we are asking people to wait due to some issues. But you are more then 1/2 way there!!! it wont be terribly long.

I understand why it upsets people to have the change, but after the hassles its worth it to keep it clean, IMO. If you have any questions about where that leaves you, check with Crazypetlady.

And welcome, even if you are waiting!
