I am not gonna bicker, this is gonna get us into trouble but you are in the wrong place then. Just because this is a swap. Sorry if you think we should be held responsible for the post office mishaps for eggs/chicks we are giving away to share with others.

Seems you have a problem with ever rule change and offer. jmo
I have no problem with the rule change. I already have conceded it makes sense for those who want chicks. Aren't we allowed to discuss things here?

I do have a problem with lack of accountability. I have experienced it firsthand when the shipper was at fault. That is my perspective, that is where my opinions come from. It certainly doesn't apply to every scenario, but should be taken into consideration.

I have never shipped chicks, I may one day, but I have received them. I have been very lucky. But with that said....as goes with eggs, I think for those of us that receive shipped eggs, or are the sender of shipped eggs we send extra or expect to receive extra. That way say you were expecting 10 eggs, but got 13....and 2 were broke... you still came out ahead. Or even if you got the 13 instead of 10, but ended up with 9, still pretty good considering they are kicked around by the USPS.

When you receive live chicks, you most always receive "packing peanuts" or extras, to help make up for the loss. That is the same as eggs, right? If you are willing to gamble, then you are willing to gamble. If you are not, don't take the offer of the chicks.

There might be some senders that would be willing to replace dead chicks if you paid for shipping, I don't know.

Let's not start a heated argument here.

it is just another option
eggs
paypal
chicks

eggs or chicks
large fowl or bantam
some like em, some don't same difference... JMO though!!

Just a thread stalker here, waiting for the opportunity to pick up some cool chickens, but I agree with the above. Just, My 2 cents :)

Any votes on adding the NPIP status to the swaps?

sure, but I hope it doesn't become a requirement in order to swap.
I wouldn't want it to be required, just if you want to mention you are that would be fine by me. It will just help those of use that are/will be NPIP to not bring in something that will invalidate our coverage :)

I only mentioned resending chicks if they DID arrive within the time specified (say, 2 days) and some were dead because of improper packing (sending 6 chicks in freezing weather with no heatpack, for example). No, I don't think we should be held accountable for them getting lost in the mail, but, just like with sending eggs, some people don't consider the journey they take to get from one place to another. We've all heard stories of eggs stuffed in cartons with crumpled newspaper loosely packed around them to be shipped 800 miles.

This was only suggested so people would think hard before offering chicks.
