Thanks everyone for the condolences! I feel so bad for putting the poor chickens through so much when they were already sick! I wish I had clarified a little more before selling them to that lady... I guess this is an opportunity for me to start over again and refocus some more. Thankfully, I am still able to fulfill spring swaps since I only offered 3 spring swaps total and 2 of those were for Silkies (which I still have). From here on out, quarantine for new birds will be in full force!!! If I had just quarantined those Lavender Orps I bought on the other side of the state for a little while, I wouldn't be here right now.

You do understand that fowl pox is transmitted by misquitos. So even with quarantine (which I HIGHLY recommend to anyone) your birds stand a great chance of getting fowl pox anyway. It is also transmitted by contact. Fowl pox will run through the flock and should clear up within 2-3 weeks. (per bird) so it could take many more weeks to clear the entire flock. Once they are clear ..I BELIEVE the birds are somewhat immune to it. Similar to human chicken pox.
BYC is a WOLRD of info... for anyone that has an issue with your birds...do a search and ask questions. There is always someone that is willing to help.

Sorry you had to go through that.

hey everyone!
Work is no longer insane, and all the company is gone and I'm freee for a day for my birthday for the first time since Oct! ( ok no birthday in october, but still!) Glad to see everyone is still swapping crazy.

Madamwolf: I am having mondo hatching luck this week, ill send some to you!

Tim: I'm so sorry, its so easy when you are in a panic to try and save your chickens and make mistakes. I can donate some eggs too once people start laying again.

And speaking of eggs! My f1 Olive egger bread from my EE's and Marans started laying! The pictures of the egg are crap, but its defintly a light olive. I'm taking this to mean her full brother with the same muff and comb and legs will also be carrying the gene, and I'm going to do a big batch of f2 olive eggers in a few weeks. Moving the hens tonight to start the erm.. cleansing process.

I am on my last batch of chicks in the old incubators. My DH bought me a old old humidair that holds almost 600 eggs for my birthday. It looks like its made of redwood ( the later ones are cedar, but this wood looks like redwood) and everything is working order. It has 4 trays that hold 144 eggs each and 2 hatchers. I have not checked that its at the right temp, but it was heating and turning when plugged in at the guys house we got it from.

The thing is 5 foot tall, Its craaazy! I need to find people who want me to hatch for them! Im thinking about buying a mectric ton of either meaties or trader joes eggs to test it out for the NYD hatch a long. DH is going down to help his mother out so ill be all alone over new years and looking for trouble!
