Today in the morning (diff time zone :) I treated my chickens with mebedazole, around 30mg /kg live weight. However, I could use some eggs to complete the incubator. Are today's eggs safe, considering that I just gave them today and I think the egg was formed before the med was given?

Second, is there a withdrawal period for eating /and or hatching? Been searching all morning but can't find anything directly related to Mebendazole.

This says "In birds, high doses of mebendazole can negatively influence reproduction. Therapeutic doses can disturb molting." http://parasitipedia.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=2703&Itemid=3001

Thanks

Mebendazole is more a class of drugs than one medicine. The box your drug came in should have all the literature in it that an end user should ever need. However I am unsure if mebendazole is approved for chickens or it is only meant as a human medicine.

Never came with instructions...but then I paid 60 cents for 10 pieces of 100mg. The vet told me to give today, skip tomorrow and give the day after the next dose. But I'm giving them 3 days in the row as a study suggests that's better. Yes, Mebendazole is used for chickens http://www.poultrydvm.com/drugs/mebendazole

If you are looking for something other than fenbendazole or albendazole you could try oxfendazole (Synanthic).
