sorry been gone for a few days have been busy with my new addiction geneology. im on day 24. i did a candle a few days ago and took out a nother quitter. i'm down to 8 eggs that look good. think i am going to wait until they pip enternally though for lockdown. i normally do thisfor my calls to and seems to work better. my aircells dont look large enought yet. i have lowered my humdity down to 45% to see if it help my air cells.
everyones fuzzy butts are so cute. i love the dark saddle backs. congrats
All these lovely goslings - I cant keep up with you all
Congratulations to all
Gosfasterstripe - in your post you said the last one's out, was this the larger egg with the smaller air cell?
BHep - Love the cute pictures of your new damp baby - too too cute
Balbinka - Your nearly there, let us know how your eggs progress
Critterranch - If you feel your air cells have not enlarged enough then my advice would be to bring the relative humidity down as far as you can, cool the eggs daily for 15 mins and open vents to max. However I realise that all this may not be possible if you have other eggs in the incubator. Would it be possible to candle the eggs and mark the air cell line with a pencil then take and post a picture?
Yes Pete....Biggest egg with the small air cell was last to pip and get out by nearly a day but thats fine, there is always 1 straggler left behind. Hes no bigger than the others either. Hes got light silver on his back and his head is really pale compared to the other the same colour as s/he. Im happy with what I have...dont ask me what I have because I dont know
but Im happy they all made it safe and sound with your help. I LOVE them, they are like squdgy little puff balls and when you pick them up they just sit there chatting to you. Nothing like ducklings at all who scream like banchees when you pick them up and move them away from the rest.
They are in a 45 gal tote just now, they are finding their feet....OMG ....huge feet, I picked grass for them yesterday and they ate it all, aswell as dandilion leaves. I htink I might put them out on the grass today in a pen for a few hours once the weather warms up a bit this afternoon. Then later on this week if all goes well I should get my Holderreads order in. Im hopeing that tonight I will get my email that they are in the post. Then once they are all here, everyone can go into the pool in the spare room for a few weeks then it should be warm enough for them to go live outside.
Im so pleased you got them all out and that you're so happy with them. That last egg's air cell looked very suspect so you've done a marvellous job getting the gosling out safely -
