hatching geese eggs

My 5 sebbie eggs are on day 26 (4/18). I am running them dry right now to try to get the air cells a little larger, was running humidity between 40-50% and now down to 30%. I see movement around the edge of the membrane in 2 of the eggs. I'm getting really nervous now as I've never hatched geese before and really I don't know what I'm doing. Kind of relying on my BYC "family" to help me along here. When do I up the humidity, and to what? Do I stop turning them now or when? Help! I feel overwhelmed!

Chix...we are all new to geese in this thread and we are all just hoofing it and getting along just great so far with our hatching. Pete has been a great help to us all with his knowledge.
Mine hatched over the weekend on day 27 and 28 all of them were out within 24 hours of pip!. I was ready for the long haul but nope. I just did what Pete said to do, I cut my humidity down on about day 23 I htink it was and ran it at 25% untill the aircells got bigger ans went into lockdown on day 26 about 3 hours before the 1st pip. I stopped turning them on day 25 with the air cell up. Once in lockdown i upped it to 80% and they hatched no bother what so ever. Im sure you will be fine, and we will all be here to see photos when they hatch

Nicky, I forgot to mention that my daughter just feel in love with your goslings...and me too!

Last night killed me.

Both my eggs had internally pipped, you could see the outline of the head and beak "peeping for their mommy" under just a regular flashlight.
I threw a fit and wanted to help them out... so I broke myself away and walked home (the incubator is staying at a neighbor's because I knew this would happen)

Got a call at around midnight. One of the eggs externally pipped on its own! Hooray!
The second one is well on it's way as well.

This is what my buddy/neighbor said about it:

"Whatever is in that egg is like it's momma. It won't shut up and acts like a darn princess and doesn't want to come out until the red carpet is laid."

LOL!

Balbinka - you're doing fine and so are your eggs

DONT rush to assist as they're following a normal progression.

Im also on day 27 with 2 Dewlap eggs and they've just started to shadow slightly at the back of the air cell and beginning to twitch and wiggle when observed. I anticipate internal pipping in the next 24 hours. Even then I dont transfer them to the hatcher with 65-70& relative humidity until they externally pip

Have a look at my Dewlap thread as there's lots of information thats relevent to your situation.

Try to relax as there's lots of support on the forum and read Nicky's well summarised post (number 175).

Hope that helps you

Critteranch - those eggs look ok but I would have liked to see larger air cells in the 3 on the right hand row

Middle row look ok

Left row look great especially the top left

The egg in the top left has its chick manouvred into the hatching position and the air cell has 'drawn down'. Shadows will be increasing and if you hold that egg to your ear you'll soon hear the gosling clicking as it breathes. That's a major hurdle that the gosling has established pulmonary respiration

Dont stress about the other eggs as they may be about to also draw down their air cells as the chicks position themselves ready for hatching. The top left egg could be fresher or just slightly ahead, there's always one first and always one last

My real concerns are for the egg in the bottom right which should have a larger air cell but there's every chance yet if its a vigourous gosling. I would continue to run the incubator dry and open vents to maximum. Also give them a daily cooling for 15 minutes unless they've already internally pipped.

Hope that helps
