Hatching geese

I'm hatching geese for the first time one pipped and just stopped chirping I peeled back some of the shell and the goslings bill was stuck in sticky hard mucus stuff so I put water on my finger and loosened his bill IDK why it did that am I doing something wrong?

What was the humidity during incubation? Too-high humidity can cause "sticky" hatchlings - they're covered in goo and sometimes they can get stuck in the egg because that goop turns hard.

It's at 50 now but it has been fluctuating I have 4 pipping but he is the only one with goo how do I help him hatch if he is stuck in goo

50% humidity is low at hatch - I like to have the humidity closer to 70% at this stage.

Assisting in a hatch is risky, but it can be done. @Pyxis posted this guide that will be helpful if you choose to assist. If you do, it's very important that you go slowly and carefully, per the guide. The gosling may not have absorbed its yolk sac yet, and premature hatching can have serious consequences.

Keep the incubator in lockdown and humidity should be 60% for forced air incubator and 70% for still air.

Can you post a picture of the 'mucus'? Your description makes me wonder if your humidity might have been too high during incubation. Was it 50% the entire time? If yes, did you weigh the eggs to track moisture loss, or candle them and make sure the air cells were growing correctly?

Now that they are in lockdown, you do want the humidity to be at about 65 to 70 percent.

It was almost like tree sap but clear...i did assist in him hating she is still moving making a little more noise than he was he is still in the incubator staying warm hopefully he pulls through. It's a forced air incubator and yes it was at 50 the whole time till lockdown then I put it up to about 60 but I didn't understand y there was just one egg that did that when they were all in there at the same time.
I have done assist hatch in my chicks and I usually get good results the only thing I have a issue with in hatching is splay leg it's happened a couple times I do the band aid on the legs but it never seems to work for me.
