Hatching in Classrooms

Ouch! That's worse than I thought, at least 4-5s can be reasoned with. Did you break out the cattle prods and barbed wire? My 3s treat everything as free game.

I loved following this thread! So wonderful! I was thinking of posting on the message boards and offering to run a hatch for other people's classrooms in the spring. I know my family would be happy not to have the bater in the house drawing all my attention when there are things to be done.

That would be awesome! I know I have friends where I teach that would love to hatch in their classrooms, but have never tried are nervous or don't have the equipment to try. I have helped some teachers near my school site, but I think having something online where you could ask questions or get help at anytime would be a great support! I say do it

Eggs and chicks best for hatchability. are: Japanese meat n egg quail (they just need eolling around random one to three times a day and are great in loe humidity, also most to all sync o hatch like popcorn together). Old english game bantams. bantam Americana (they lay multi colored eggs).

all are great quiet space savers. the quail are really not good for cost of or feeding, but two breeds of chooks are awsome allowed to free range or confined (you cannot hear Americana roos from in or outside from were roo is). choo

Update on the chicks and kids.

I told the kids how fast the chicks will grow and they asked if I could take pictures for them so they can remember them small.

The chicks are healthy and spunky! No issues except DH doesn't like that I brought them in the living room by my recliner. He has had the garage door open a lot... that's all I got for excuses!

Here's some of the pictures. The first one text was added for funnies but the kids received it blank and the second one is one of the bantam cochins that climbed into the feeder and got stuck!

The group pics are hilarious when you see them taken in order and how the chicks moved! I do that with my kiddos and class pics...just keep snapping the group and eventually you get a good pic of them all! So cute....I would have them cozy in my living room too

I can pretend they cooperated if I use the nice cropped picture but I took 20 to get the one lol I do the same thing with my kid. Funny stuff comes out of its snapping the camera.

Thanks for the photos! Do you have any updated one? I'd love to see how the bantam cochins are growing up!!

The babies have been great! We gave away the 2 buttercups and the naked neck to a couple of 4h kids that were raising those types already. The poor things were getting picked on! We are on vacation right now but I'll upload some new picks when we get back the babies are feathering out nicely!
