Hatching in Classrooms

Pics
Very exciting.  BTW- those backyard mix eggs are what got me started in chickens.  I always had hatched leghorns.  Cute but skittish little things.  After 1-2 weeks, they wee donated to a farm.  The rainbow egg assortment we hatched produced the most loving chicks.  I ended up keeping a few & building a backyard coop.  They are still with me.
Cool, how many chicken you have now?

two years old in April! My duck eggs that I am getting are a backyard mix...so exciting!

I got some chicken eggs from a farm, not idea of the breed, I had my first pip today, but looks like malpositioned, hope he make it!

X2 on Faraday40's advice. There are resources for assisted hatching on this site I would look over. Most important to make sure the veins are absorbed and hopefully the yolk. Assisting is a slow, patient process so hopefully your chick will make it out on its own in the next 24hrs

Any little peepers walking around yet?
Funny, I was logging in when I receive notification :), the second one hatched about 5:30 am, the first one is making progress, hopefully he can hatch by itself. So excited, my first time hatching!

Picked up 4 dozen eggs tonight for our classroom hatch. 2 dozen Americaunas, 1 dozen Rhode Island Reds, and a dozen Silkies. It will be really neat for the kids to see how different the eggs can be.
I have read that Bantams hatch earlier that standards, what's everyone else's experience say? Should we expect the Silkies to make their arrival first?

Hi! Yes, my bantams have hatched earlier than my standard sized chicks by 1-2 days. I hatch quails(18 day incubation), chicks(21 day incubation) and ducks (28 day incubation) so my kiddos see the difference in size/color of eggs, as well as the difference in the birds
