Thats amazing when most of the time you just about have to beg to get someone to take a drake.

she says oh i dont know how many time i have to say we cant make sure everyones going to get pullets sometimes you get more cockerals than normal
i told her umm i got 5....

i told her no thats no big deal i just wished i got a boy in the mix
she stops everything shes doing drops a thingy in her hand and says

Still just the one!!

She's quite bright now and its been just over 24 hrs... no sign of the other 4 coming through yet, just wondering how long I leave it til I remove the hatched one into the brooder....

I'm using a brinsea octagon 10 (for those that know) and the two water containers were 3/4 full, and now near empty; I followed instructions and blocked just one vent, so the other is fully open...

I've not used a bator so can't tell you but I think having her in there will help the others work faster on getting out. but someone with more experience will be able to help you more. It takes quite a while for them to chip away at the shell so patience is the word. are the eggs moving around at all?

No, the other eggs arent moving, but I did candle on Thursday evening, and two others were moving then.

I've read the eggs can take days which is fine, I'm quite patient (lazy?) in that respect, I'm just wondering about when you need to take out the hatched one before they get hungry etc.

well for the first 36 or maybe 48 hrs. they are living on the yolk sack so they are fine now. when ducks and chickens are shipped they are without food for at least 2to3 days during shipping. I was hoping someone with experience in bator hatching would be able to help you. But I am sure for now your duckling is fine.
