Oh my goodness, soooo much going on! Where do I start?
Hi Coops! I'm just a broody wannabe hanging around.![]()
Liz! Desi has become quite handsome! I really hope things continue to work out for you and him! I wonder if he will get into the habit of going into the crate at night time, without having to be caught?
TG, Teila! Babies!! I love it. Can't wait to see more pictures!! I am so sorry that you lost the first one, TG. Excited to see what is to come!
Here I am, counting on my fingers trying to figure out what time it is for Teila…. I give up. Can't wait for an update!!
We're melting here. Really melting. It is 52* out and the snow is slowly but surely disappearing. Warm weather all week. I got my best egg count today-- 9 total, 5 of which were green or blue so all the EE are finally laying. (Marsha, your turn now. Get going!!) They are also getting bigger. Since the snow is below my knees now, I have gone back to my old mudders and have not had any conflicts with Willie. I think he tried to do a little dance toward me when I closed the run gate, but I just jumped back at him and made and goofy noise. I had to get the last word in! I am sad that the children can not be in sight while the chickens are free ranging though. No trust that Willie will mind his own business if there is someone he can try to knock down a few levels on the pecking order.
Spring fever has kicked in for me… seeing all these fuzzy butts might make it worse!
Yay for Marsha!!!!Thanks, MM! She must have heard your post, because Marsha laid her first egg here today! And, . . . . it's cream-colored! Haha! I knew there was a good chance it wouldn't be blue/green, since she's got a bit of a single comb and no beard. Oh well, she's pretty enough that her eggs don't need to be. It's a nice, healthy-looking, pinkish-hued, large egg, and I'll take it! Now it's up to Jan to provide the color.
Oh wow, TG! I'm glad you're getting improvement! How are the broody babies?
