Have you ever been courted by one of your ganders?

I just love the some of the things geese will do for attention. Sounds like your female Bhonkers is trying to get your attention for breeding.... Do you have any ganders for her? Usually the geese like to get into their pools to breed. She might be telling you she wants to breed if you have any ganders. Makes me think this becasue it is by the pool she does this. They can not talk to us so just show us what they want.

My female goose tugs at my pant leg. I'm not sure what it means... she does it occasionally, but only when I'm really close to their pools. She'll do a couple of soft squeaks and pull my at my jeans, she'll keep doing that until she gets behind me and then she stops and just stands there, sometimes between my legs. And when she pulls, its not agressive, its small little nips.  I dont know if means she wants to be picked up, or if she's trying to establish dominance over me, or if she's attempting to mate, or if she's just being affectionate.  :idunno

My goose Lucy has never been aggressive with me but is aggressive with others, until just lately...she started laying, I had to move her egg to a better place. I don't know the reason but she has been attacking my feet, first I thought it was because I wore different shoes but she also wanted to attack my usual red rubber boots! The very first attack, I did not let her getaway with it and did not back down. I pushed her away by her neck several times. I was a bit upset that she did this.
I have a sun conure that gets a bit crazy at times and wants to attack and bite my hands but most of the time she is sweet and loving. So I'm not new to birds acting a bit out of character at times.

The egg is the reason she is attacking your shoes now. When they lay eggs that protective mode comes to them and they will attack anoything. My sebbies are veryy passive during the summer months but when they start laying eggs if I go into their pens to check out the egg laying they come running to chase me out of there. But if they are sitting on the eggs they will bite the crap out of you.

Thanks everyone. Maybe it IS because she wants to mate, but she does have a gander, and he's usually swimming in the next pool during this. And I think its a bit odd, because when the gander goes in to the pool where my goose is (presumably to mate) she quickly gets out, as she's signaling that she doesnt want to mate. What the heck? I wish I spoke "Goose"

Bhonkers just how imprinted is she with you??? If she is super imprinted with you she may think you are her mate. I know it sounds crazy but she is coming to you and not the gander.

I obtained both geese when they were a week old, I got them this year, on April 9th. I believe they were from the same clutch, though I'm not 100% sure. They seem bonded to each other, as they always travel together, though when I'm outside, they both follow me, so I would say they are both imprinted. My gander has attempted to mate with her before, though he hasnt really gotten the hang of it yet (sometimes he mounts her the wrong way). Thats why I dont know if she's trying to be agressive - kind of saying, "hey, you're too close to my pool"- or trying to show affection. I guess I can scratch out "wanting to be picked up/ held", right?, because geese normally wouldnt want that.
