Have you finished your holiday shopping? What did you buy?

Well, lets see if I can remember everything
hmm.png
given I start shopping in September. *thinking..thinkinggggg...*

DD (18) - 2 pair of jeans, 2 pair of suit pants, 2 blazers *college life you know, coming quick*, 4 blouses, 6 t-shirts, new MP3 player that has a camera thingy on it/downloads videos/watch movies *I dont know, its a new hot item
roll.png
and her "big gift" *, Apples to Apples game, jewlery, Twilight book, $50.00 in her Christmas stocking along with candy.

DS (10) - 2 pair of jeans, 4 shirts, boxer briefs *because "tidy whiteys arent cool any longer FYI all you mom's out there of soon to be 10 y/o's, I was just informed
lol.png
*, socks, bathrobe, new portable DVD player *his big item - he broke his other one, although it is 6 yrs old*, Battleship Game, Complete Set of InkSpell Books, Kingdom Hearts II PS2 Game, some other computer game I cant remember, $50.00 in his Christmas stocking along with candy.

Hubby and I dont buy each other presents - never have.

Family:

Mom: quilt (if I get it done in time) - and a custom made wind chime of an angel that has my Dad's name engraved on it

MIL: Stained glass angel *also custom made* holding a chain of stained glass hearts (8 of them) with all the names of her kids and grandkids on each heart.

We dont buy for our siblings - we all decided long ago not to do that and just to buy for the parents and the kids.

Nieces:

21 y/o: found a picture she colored when she was 4 along with a $1.00 bill in my Hubby's dads belongings about a month ago (his dad passed away 3 years ago). Apparently his dad kept this in his wallet for quite some time. The picture we remember her coloring one Christmas and the dollar bill apparently was from the day she was born (1988) and he put it away. So I framed them
smile.png
and she's getting it for Christmas and has no idea.

7 y/o: a CSI Crime Lab/finger printing processing kit (my SIL *her mom* works for the FBI in forensics so thought that was pretty cool!)

Nephews: they each got $20.00 to spend how they want.

We celebrate Solstice and Yule with a nice ceremony and exchange gifts on Christmas day.

The Solstice morning I usually do alone, no one else wants to beat the sun up!! Wait that came out wrong.... no one else wants to get up before the sun. yeah that's what I meant.
wink.png

We leave a candle lit all night long (I put it in a basin and put that in a basin of water.) And then that morning we all make Solstice bread which my kids adore.

As for gifts DH got a nail gun.

The girls too much stuff but it was all little stuff and a few games. I start collecting at the after Christmas sales in January! That's also when I buy my Christmas decorations.

DH's family we won't see until Jan 11 so except for his Mom, I haven't gotten theirs yet - will wait til after Xmas.

My sisters and their kids - we made a deal - games or books for kids and nothing new for us. But we could find consignment clothes or books for each other. I love it consignment and Goodwill shopping is like a treasure hunt!!

I spent $120 combined on the boys. Cheap holiday, but they'll love what they got. They have something to open and that's what counts. Your gifts will be loved

This is almost to the dollar what we spent on the boys. And to be honest, we could have spent half that and they would have been just as content. Total cost for supplies and gifts for everyone else was inexpensive as well. I used to think that my boys would compare what we get for them to the overabundance their friends get and be disappointed. They never do, and are always elated with what they were given. It's not good for kids to be so materialistic, and if they ever complained about what they didn't get, there would be some serious character discussions going on. It would be ugly. We've had some broke years, but even though we could technically afford more this year, we have other financial goals then spoiling them on Christmas (buy a house, save for their college, all more important than whatever "thing" they want). Just love on them and give them cookies, they'll be happy.

Oh I'm such a "spaver" - I did all my shopping online - and even though my kids (I think) got alot of things - they get mostly clothing (which is when they get most of their clothes, at Christmas) and all of them were on Clearance - with free shipping and using promotional codes, I got amazing deals! Their "big ticket" items were each $70.00 but were both on sale and then the $50.00 they each get is for other "incidentals" they will want (bras, socks, shoes, makeup, etc) that I chose not to buy them.

I think total, not including the $100.00 cash between the 2 of them we've spent less than $400.00 combined - which is amazing for us - thats much better than what we spent last year (well over $800) so I feel TERRIFIC about that!

I dont think we'll ever get below $500.00 for Christmas, but I'd sure like to try...

Um...

500GB external USB hard drive
Two LED flashlihts
A bunch of gift cards

I think that's about it for now.

Later, I'll probably be buying another external hard drive, an un-interruptable power supply, flash drive, and whatever else.

Didn't get a good list from folks this year, so they get gift cards.

Oh gosh, this is a good thread for me. I need to put this all down so I can make sure I'm not forgetting anything. I'm sure I'm going to have to edit this but let's see what I can remember off the top of my head...

I'm 100% done with CHRISTmas
smile.png
shopping! I bought for:

Cousins' kids - various games, books, lip gloss set
We're not buying for any adult relatives this year, we just sent cards to those who are out of town.

Oldest DS's girlfriend - a very nice sterling silver bracelet.

My parents and brother (who still lives at home) - a computer game for each of them, a big bag of bird seed, and a Yankee Flipper bird feeder... they'll enjoy watching squirrels getting spun off the feeder.
lol.png

Our kids:

20 year old DS - $ for his car insurance for 6 months (all he asked for was for help w/ his insurance, bless his sweet heart
smile.png
), a Wii game, a PSP game, clothes

15 year old DS - a nice digital camera, memory card & software, a PS3 game, a Wii game, a gift card to PacSun, Guiness World Record book (he gets one every year), new wheels & bearings for his skateboard, new wheels for his ripstick, clothes

10 year old DS - a new "pro" (it had to be a "pro" one) skateboard, an airsoft pistol and pellets, a PS3 game, a Wii game, a couple of DVDs, a few small toys, books, clothes

7 year old DD - Littlest Pet Shop animals, Tinkerbell movie DVD, several different kinds of dolls and doll accessories, some stuffed animals, a Webkinz, a Wii game, books, clothes

DH - Complete set of "Arrested Development" DVDs

For myself (told DH he'd better NOT get me anything) - a new steam cleaner.

My old one just died and with kids and dogs in the house, I HAVE to have one.

I'm so excited for my kids because my parents got them a Wii and a Wii Fit! They even got one for my oldest son who lives on his own. Seeing the kids' reaction to that SURPRISE is going to be better than seeing their reaction to what we/Santa got them. I can hardly wait!

I've already had to edit this five times.
