Have You Seen Any Honey Bees?

Did you, like us, have a very early glorious spring with everything in bloom?? It was so beautiful...I should have known. I uncovered everything from the mulch...

I should have known better.

I make mead, so I have been reading up on this worried about the price of honey. It's the strangest thing!

Jag, I had to go google the word mead.

that is so interesting. Now I need to go look it up further as I just got the meaning of the word and now want to know more about it. ha

ozark I live in Harriman TN some states are reporting loss from CCD but not.

The cell phone story has been on the news and I feel its a load of @#$@ I lay the blame pesticides and poisons.

Einstein once said
"If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe then man would only have four years of life left. No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more man."

Livelybee I tend to agree somewhat. If you go back to chickenfeather's original post on page one here and go to the Herald Tribune and type in bees at the top it will go to the other articles you have mentioned. Some are bogus some make you think it is possible. My brother lives in Murphreesboro, TN.

No built in radar, they use their eyes. The cell phone theory is put out by the tin-foil hat society.

CCD, the new bee problem/disease appears to be a bacteria problem.

Mites, both varoa and tracheal, were big problems, erradicating the vast majority of feral bees in the US, as well many domestic colonies. The problem with these mites is still severe, but resistance to them is starting to show up in the bees... somewhat.

I'm wondering why the bumblebees aren't having any difficulty?

If it's a virus/bacteria, maybe there's a clue there somewhere...

What do the bumblebees have in their makeup to protect them that honey bees don't???

I looked for bees as I mowed my grass the other day. There are hives up the hill from me and I have to say there are fewer bees in my yard as well. I'm in northeast TN, not far from the Tennessee-Virginia state line.
I guess you could say I brake for bees--I push mow and wait for the bee to finish collecting before I continue mowing.
