Have you seen this before? Head injury shock

He's a very noisy bird to have in the house; I hope this corrects itself soon!

Yes he can see perfectly fine, he's on alert all the time and can see birds go past the window, things like that. Why?

He's not eating or drinking still. He is cute isn't he? :) Today I also realised he is getting what I think is a yeast infection on his comb, conjunctivitis and a dried crust in his nostrils. I've started feeding him scrambled egg, I gave him an acidophillus capsule and put some coconut oil with a drop of lavender on his comb. After eating the acidophillus he did a very smelly wet poo (as opposed to the little hard pale ones he's been doing mostly), so I hope it purged something. I also steamed him by holding a cup of hot water with a drop of eucalyptus in his crate with the blanket over and the crust seems to have gone, also the fungus seems to be gone from his comb but his eye is still gacky. I've been washing with a green teabag but any ideas on treatments gratefully received.
I've also found adding heat with a hot water bottle has kept him much calmer and stopped the crowing. I think he was doing a big act of being ok when he's actually very sick but he seems much more content now roosting on his hot bot and listening to Classic FM.

Just making sure he could see well. Sometimes if a bird can't see good they don't eat/drink.

Sounds like you are doing what you can for him. Some people use VetRx which I do believe has eucalyptus, you can find that in feed stores or online.
It would be good to check inside his beak just to make sure there are no lesions or canker since he's mucousy.

Do you have photos of the goopy eye? There's several methods of treatment, if you are having good results with tea bagging, then that should be o.k. If it gets gunky and doesn't clear up, flush with saline - you can make your own - add 1teaspoon salt to 1quart water, boil for 15minutes. Let cool. Store excess in a sterile jar for up to 24hrs, then make new.
Plain Neosporin can also be put in the eye after you flush it well or you can use an eye ointment like Terramycin or Vetericyn eye gel.

Birds that are sick do better if they are warm, so it's great you discovered he enjoyed the hot water bottle. A heating pad set on low is another option.

Thank you for the update.

I'll try and get you a picture but first thing his eye is stuck together, there's a yellow weepy sticky fluid and after I clean it you can see the clear fluid starting to accumulate again. I'm making the saline solution now, thanks for that. We don't have terramycin in the UK and vetamycin seems to have mixed review on amazon. Have you tried that one with the chickens? Does that sound like standard conjunctivitis to you? I'm trying not to clean it too much as the area around his eye went puffy.
It's been over a week now and he's still not eating or drinking. Honestly I'm starting to wonder if he's just happy getting fed like this now! Stupid bird.

Does he happen to have a feather or fluff stuck in the eye - you may have to flush heavily and use a qtip or something to see what's in there. Common causes of a crusty eye can be from debris, a scratch to the eye, conjunctivitis and respiratory illness.

Since the area around the eye went puffy, you may need to press on that to see if any pus comes out. It would be worth looking inside his beak to make sure there are no lesions, canker or pus too.

You mention "vetamycin" do you have a photo?
Do you mean Vetromycin, Vetropolycin or Vetericyn? Since you are in the UK, you may need to see your vet about getting an eye ointment.

I would think that he would want to eat/drink on his own, but you never know he may expect to be hand fed. Try leaving it and see if he will take the initiative.

Thanks for all the good advice but sadly we got to the point where we got Frank put to sleep. I was actually quite upset because I felt like I was giving up on him but it has been 11 days without eating and drinking and I tried EVERYTHING to get him to eat. The vet said it was probably the head injury and as it had been that long it was unlikely he'd recover. He'd had a bit of conjunctivitis (if that was it) in that eye since he was a chick but it just got really bad because his immune system was so low. The saline solution was some help but it would just come back worse in the morning.
I will miss him but this morning I just got to thinking it wasn't fair to keep stuffing food in the poor thing when he's obviously not getting better. We will miss his cockledoodledoo in the morning :-(

I'm so sorry to hear about Frank:hugs
You did everything you could for him. I'm sure you will miss him, but it was good that you consulted the vet and was able to make a decision about his quality of life. Never an easy thing to do.
