Having a bit of Christmas blues

Holidays help me through winter blues. I don't know how I survive January every year.

Lol,I must be one of the very few to actually wish one of my hens had been a roo.All was good until Taffy our roo died at 14 weeks and I hoped one of the other 5 was a boy too,but alas I have all girls.Love them,but miss the roo to this day.

I look at seed catalogs and make plans for the yard.Still not enough to make me happy throughout winter.Yes,I think I need to celebrate more-no need for official holidays.

I developed a very healthy sense of imagination and creativity because I didn't have the luxury of lots of "things". I am the better for it.

Ooooohhhh!!!! PARK'S SEED CATALOG !!!! Eye Candy for Gardening Addicts! I LOVE looking through it and dreaming of what to put in my beds next year. I don't usually raise plants from seed unless it's something rare I can't get at a nursery here in FL. Once it get's a teeny bit warm, I want plants to get a jump start on blooms. Short gratification cycle here. I want something green and blooming ALL THE TIME! Last year I got hooked on Brugmansia and Datura (Angel Trumpets) and got 6 different types/colors. I always like passion flowers and they come in a gazillion shapes and colors. Those are easy to raise from seed, and the nurseries only carry 2 varieties: purple and red. Yawn! Bor-ing. I want something that people look at and gasp! I prefer that the beautiful flowers also have nice scents, pretty foliage and are prolific bloomers.....it's an extra bonus if they make coffee for me in the morning too. HA! Whatever it takes to get through the cold, brown dead spell we call winter.

Have you all seen "Dutchman's pipe vine"? (Aristalochia) They are magnificent! I have seeds......

Yea seed catalogs really helped me through a tough winter last year. I can't say this holiday season is much better but I still remember what a pain in the rear dealing with all those seeds was so I'm not real hyped about seeds this year.

Maybe I'll start looking at fishing catalogs.

Christmas blues are over. Not only is one of my niece in law's having a baby but another one told me tonight that she just found out she is expecting also. YAY So before I turn 36 I will be great auntie to 7 AND one is due Super close to my birthday.
