HE JUST SHOWED UP!!

Looks like an Australorp for sure.

Names you may want to go with:

Michael Clark Duncan
James Earl Jones
Barry White

Australorps are easy to find, phenomenal layers, good with kids. You shouldn't have too hard a time finding him some gal friends--if nothing else, your feed store will likely have some bitties this spring.

He needs one BAD, why because I caught him Trying to mate with my CALLS!!! OH HELL NO, I cant have that happening.. He's to big for a 1 pound duck...

He's a beauty! I'm no expert on breeds by any stretch of the imagination, but I think he's either a Black Australorp or Black Orpington. You should probably isolate him in his own area for a time...just in case of illness/disease....what a find!

I have had him since Nov so I'm gonna have to rule out any illness or diseases.. He's still with me, hasn't even ATTEMPTED to go back home wherever that is. LOL

I think he's enjoying life at my house a little to much.. LOL

I haven't heard him crow yet, just a lot of talking, and a very very deep voice he has.. If he's a black Australorp will he every crow?

HES GONE? It's a total mystery, he was talking a lot, acting completely normal and last night I found him directly underneath the heating lamp dead. We got temps in the negative so I'm not sure if this cold weather did it or what. I've had him for 3 months now and no signs of sickness. I kept him separated from my flock for the first month before I let him hang out with my group. But now he's gone.
The heating lamp was not anywhere close to him even though his was a beast! It was about five feet high from the ground up because I though omg, he must have had a heart attack from this cold weather and going directly under the heat. But he couldn't get that hot... So I don't get it???

I was really enjoying him, he was sooooo friendly and harmless. I didn't even get a chance to get him a girlfriend. This is horrible? Perhaps this type of breed can't tolarate this horrible cold weather we are having and perhaps I should have place him elsewhere until it got warmer, I DONT know, my silkies are surviving, my ducks, bantams and even my Dublin roaches are surviving just fine with the weather so why couldn't he?

any thoughts????

Sorry for your loss. Just thinking out loud. You saw no sign of disease? Australorps are listed as cold hardy, but wondering, did he sleep with others perched along side him to help keep him warm or was he alone at night? Could that have affected him?
