the only thing in my life that comes close is when my Dear Grandmother sold my Dogteam and Sled to some guy while I was at school!
I came home to one dog and no equipment.

her excuse was "we needed the money......and who needs 25 dogs and 18 puppies!"
I have never got back into racing sled dogs....

ETA:
That is why no one messes with my animals but me! It is clearly understood from DAY 1 of meeting anyone.....
I do discuss things about the animals with my DH, but the final say is mine.....and who stays, goes or gets eaten is my choice, I butcher my own when needed as well.

So he doesn't get just the dirty jobs around here either.

We have many, many pets and we find that it's easier to get just one of us to take care of that animal. I do all the lizards/frogs,rabbits,chickens,feeders along with the food/supplies buying and vet care, my dh helps when I'm not able to but be does the cockitiels and the dogs and turtles. It doesn't seem even but he's in a wheelchair and it takes longer for him a 10 min job takes him 2 hours.

this sounds like a terrible mis-communication issue and I am very glad your finance' and you have worked things out, I await anxiously to hear if you get you fav chicks back. Any decent buyer would grant you this, especially if they are familiar with the attachment we get from our chicks.

I think from this post we should ALL learn to communicate more clearly to our significant others or have them acknowledge not to do any transactions when we aren't available. This surely was a heartbreaking experience.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree ! This shows a total lack of respect !
Give him the silent treatment until he calls the guy and explains HE made a mistake and those chicks needed vaccinations and were being observed for possible disesase, and exchange for some other chicks (take some with him when he goes to exchange)
The children shouldn't care !
(((My God how could your Grandmother sell your teams and sled equipment !
That had to break your heart !
That's akin to selling one's children off !))))

I want to see a post that says you have recovered your favorite babies and boyfriend has made apologies, right now !
What he has done has angered half the women in 2 countries now, explain to him that he is not sfe until he gets your babies back !
An angry mob of chicken lovers could track him down someday and kick his behind !
Could be weeks, could be months or years from now a woman will come up to him and say "you are the one who sold her favorite chicks ?"

He must get them back !!!!
Tell us he did the right thing !!!!

Now, now ChickieLady, the problem has been resolved between the couple but it is UP to the OP what she wants to do, either bring the chicks back or have her DF get her some new chickies!

If he were my fiance, he would no longer be. If it were my DH, well....I've got 80 acres and a shovel.

In response to parents/grandparents selling animals while one is away, I too had this happen when I was a freshman in college, and was quite upset. However, looking at it from a different perspective and many years later, if the child/young adult is not present or able to take care of the animals, which includes feeding, exercise, training, grooming, etc., and if the costs are a burden, then selling the animals or lacing them in a good home probably needed to be done. However, once again, communication is very important. Things should not be sprung on someoen after-the-fact.

Well, my husband only hears every other word I say

I could totally see this happening at my house
