* I know how to put a duck to sleep. Tuck it's head under it's wing, hold the duck w/both hands over the wings & make 3 or 4 BIG "O" swings with the duck-- then, gently set it on the ground. They usually "sleep" a cpl. minutes. My dad taught me.

My dad taught us how to make chickens 'sleep', too. Basically the same thing, except we just rocked them back and forth in our hands. You had to sing "rock a bye baby (sp?!), too. It worked well enough to impress people.

I had tried the one where you draw the line out infront of their beak in the dirt, I couldn't really get that one to work.

I live near Fruita, CO where Mike is Famous. They even have Mike the Headless Chicken days in the summer and have
vendors set up. Always a big article about Mike in the paper at the time.

My Great-grandmother used to "draw a line" in front of a chicken to get them to lay thier heads where she wanted them.
