HEARTBROKEN

@Miss Lydia Flossy laid an egg last night!!! Isn't that really good? That means her body is healing & it's not taking all of her energy to do so??
Sounds like she is making great progress and getting back to normal. Even though it will take quite a while for those feathers to grow back in.

How did she do with the heater last night?

I left it on low while I was up... & when I went to check on her she was actually sleeping w/ her head turned around (like normal) & that's the first time I've seen her cozy like that since monday. However, because the wind has been blowing I was afraid to leave the heater on all night... so I completely closed the tarp w/the exception of the bottom of the pin so air could circulate... & I turned the heater on high for a few minutes before turning it off- it seemed to hold some heat pretty well! & we got an egg! Lol.--- I was wondering about her feathers. So it takes a long time for them to come back?? At least were going into the spring/summer months, so it won't be cold! That's a plus. Thank you for answering all of my questions & giving me such great support! Perusual!

Can you see any signs of pin feather coming in? once they start she should grow them pretty quick but in the meantime keep her out of direct sunshine so she doesn't get sunburned. She has alot of feathers to replace.

I am so happy to hear daily of the progress she is making they amazes me all the time. How about Felix is he safe from that dog or any other pred?

Yes he is safe! I still can't believe that happened! I have NEVER had any issues w/ dogs or anything bothering my babies...but, it happened.

my daddy actually ordered me a brand new huge pin for my birthday! I had no idea- until he told me Monday night after Flossys accident. It came Wednesday & is in the process of being put up! I won't have to worry about anything getting to them orrrrr feel guilty about keeping them in the pin!

How exciting is that. You'll have to post some pics when it's all set up.

Look who's out & about today! She's walking now, she still has to stop to a take rest of course, but she is walking! The whether is nice & the sun is shining so I decided to give her nice bath & let her be out in the open for awhile. Felix is loving it too! & Being such a gentleman! He is leaving her alone & is escorting her when she decides to walk around. My heart is so filled with joy that everything is OK with my Flossy.

@Miss Lydia is there anything I can do to help her feathers come in faster? e.g. conditioner, cream, etc?

PS: Excuse the temporary pin setup!

Aww look at that. So happy to see her out and about and Felix being such a gentleman too.

Don't put anything on her unless your treating her wounds. Feed her good quality cat kibble like you are and dried meal worms, high protein in other words along with her reg feed. Feathers are protein. Such a happy day for you all and us here too. !!!

If any kind of cream etc gets on her remaining feathers it will most likely make her non water proof.

Got'cha! I saw today she already has some pin feathers coming in! Also tonight Felix took it upon himself to go into her pin while I was "fetching" water & would NOT get out. Lol. I literally fought with him for 15 mintues before giving up & leaving him. He is so stubborn! Plus there is plenty of room in there & I won't worry about Flossy being cold! He loves her so much...The bond between them never ceases to amaze me!
