HEARTBROKEN

@Miss Lydia 1 more question! Flossy seems to have a little gunk coming out of her left eye. Is this something I should be concerned about? Or is it because she hasn't been taking her daily baths/dunking her head? It's not a lot...However you know how I am about stuff!!

Most likely from not washing her eyes out but with what she has been through keep an eye[pardon the pun] on it. You could get some eye wash or Terramycin eye ointment or make a saline wash yourself if you want to go ahead and clean it out for her. 1/8 tea salt to 1 cup of warm water mix well then just gently rinse out her eye. That way if she has dust or pollen etc you are removing it before it really irritates. We are having serious pollen counts right now, I am actually having to use eye drops.

Got'cha! I saw today she already has some pin feathers coming in! Also tonight Felix took it upon himself to go into her pin while I was "fetching" water & would NOT get out. Lol. I literally fought with him for 15 mintues before giving up & leaving him. He is so stubborn! Plus there is plenty of room in there & I won't worry about Flossy being cold! He loves her so much...The bond between them never ceases to amaze me!
Awesome about the pin feathers. Only thing you have to watch for with Felix is if he decides to want to mate he could really hurt her with his nails. That is so sweet how they love each other.

That's the only thing that concerns me, but it's like he knows that's a "No-No" right now. She is doing awesome! Starting to walk a lot more & a lot better! Thank goodness! I know it was no where near as traumatic for me as it was for her... But it's been a rough week! I thought I was gonna lose my baby! But anyway... I washed her eyes best I could today & got the gunk off the best I could. Will the saline solution not burn? She should get her stitches out the 8th, so she can take her normal baths again soon!

I think if the saline solution is the right mix of salt and water it should be similar enough to her own bodily fluids and not burn.

(Too Much Information Alert: A while back I got a neti pot, for rinsing the sinuses. The instructions said to use a salt solution. Yours truly decided to try it with plain water, not salt water. I learned a new definition and new level of pain. The salt water felt fine - the fresh water was ouchie in the extreme. Anyway, that is what I base my guess about saline not hurting on)

@Amiga I don't mean to laugh but...Lol! I just don't want to put her in anymore pain! Like ever! I kinda drizzled water over her eyes this am, I will do the saline in the morning! It's weird that the salt doesn't burn, but the water does!

I think laughter is the appropriate response. What a boneheaded thing for me to do!!!

Made an impression, though. It truly was an 11 on a scale of 1 to 10. Like a hot brain freeze (from drinking iced drink too quickly). Mercy, I have digressed . . . can you tell I am tired?

Thinking of you, praying, sending hugs.

@Amiga I used "Little Remedies Saline Solution" for babies. I had some for my daughter stashed back. That way I didn't have to worry about it being to salty or not salty enough! I cleaned them out twice today. Idk why but she will not dunk her head. I even tried putting her in the pool (before Felix got to it & destroyed the clean water) she just won't do it right now! She is definitely feeling better tho! She has some attitude back, talking back & all!

I still have her sleeping in the dog kennel at night, Felix has joined her a couple of nights...But during the day I'm letting her out in the temporary chicken wire pin. Their new pin/house is almost complete!(yay!) When do you think it would be appropriate to let her stay there? She has a check up Wednesday- possible stitches are coming out as well... Maybe then? Everything is slowly getting back to normal... Thank God. Prayer works! That's a sure thing! & Like I told @Miss Lydia I can't thank y'all enough for the support & answering my amateur questions!!! Xo.

Readiness is a combination of assessing health - which the vet may be able to help with - and your own gut instincts.

Sometimes I have held off just a little - maybe a few hours or a day - if I had any hesitation. Maybe it was just to make myself feel better! But, hey, if it does not harm the ducks, why not? So, when you are both ready, and the shelter is secure, then I think it is time.
