I'm getting 4 1 week old chicks and keeping them in my basement which is about 60 degrees,i'm putting them in a 40 gallon tote . I have a75 watt bulb, is this good enough to keep them warm ? And how much wood chips should I put in the bottom of it ? thanks

You should use a thermometer to initially set your heat lamp temperature, raising or lowering it until you have around 80-85. I will usually put about a 1/2 inch of shavings, which I change out and needed. At about 2 weeks old most chicks do well with some time outside on some grass during warm days.
