Heated Waterer.... anyone using this product?

I've got one like the one you have pictured in your first post. After using it for a week or so I gave up on it and bought another kind. It's a pain to flip upright after you fill it and keep from dumping it. The water comes to within 1/4" from the top of the dish so if it's not sitting pretty much level the water will run out and it'll empty itself and you're not suppose to hang it. My opinion is to get something else.

I like that waterer! I don't use the rubber stopper to fill it; I just turn it upside down, unscrew the red base, fill up the container, and put the base back on. Flip it over and put it back on a plastic shoe box (for elevation) in the coop. It works great, holds a lot of water, and seems fine. A little more of a pain than the summer water routine (galvanized metal waterer) but fine for the winter.

We use the waterer you pictured. So far so good. My 14 year old daughter fills it and hasn't had a problem as of yet. We set it on some bricks in the coop to try and keep the shavings etc.. out of the water. The temp here was down to 19 last night and no frozen water!!! We'll see how it works in January when it is really cold! but so far, we are happy with it.

I just have to get use to mine. I'm not a big fan of dirty water and my other waterer I've used from the beginning has me spoiled...it has the nipples. I fill mine to the same way as the other poster....take the bottom off, fill, screw back on. I do like the bucket with the water cups someone posted!

I used it for 1 season.....then the plastic top got so brittle it disintegrated. I now use a galv watere and base heater for the winter. plastic for summer

I read a blog about a women, boiling rocks and then putting into her water in the evening and then replacing them in the evening..may try it along with an aquarium heater.

We have used ours everyday for three years without problems. It has never frozen over and we live in central ohio. Worst feature is flippinf it over after filling.

I hate mine, it is collecting dust in the attic of the coop, hard to fill and spills . I'd say go to TSC and get the heated water buckets or heated dog bowls.

I have used this one with the 3 gallon fount metal waterer. http://www.flemingoutdoors.com/elhebaforpof.html It works great! This is my second year in use. I set it on top of a couple of blocks, then the heater with the waterer on top (of course).

The only thing is that it needs to be inside.
