Heated waterers: HELP

The waterer heaters that are metal, I believe Little Giant makes them, are made for poultry waterers. Those do get hot, but I have put a gallon plastic waterer on them with no problems. If it is that cold for the waterer heater to kick on, my husband says it will not get hot enough to melt plastic.

We have made the homemade versions of the waterer heaters as well, and there is no way for anything to get in the tins to catch fire, and we use only a 40w light bulb, also cannot get hot enough to melt plastic.

cozywinters.com has heated water bowls. I plan to put my plastic waterer in it for my small backyard flock. I will use a thermalcube with it.
