Heating Effects of Corn on Poultry

What a refreshing read! As a previous horse owner "hot" feeds have always meant simply higher calorie content. So I always had a little giggle when I heard people say chickens body temp. would rise to lethal degree's if fed corn in the summer. But not being very well versed on chickens at the time who was I to argue?! I have always given my chickens scratch as a treat year 'round and certainly never had any in heat stroke as a result!

I feed my chickens corn and laying mash as long as they have fresh water and some shade they are fine corn its self don't cause heat the secret is a good all around diet
