Hedemora Swedish Chickens

I just started raised Hedemora's last year when I hatched some fertile eggs. I have devoted myself to this one breed so I can learn and care for it properly. The problem I have is every bird I hatched was smooth feather type and none had the feathers on the feet. I am wondering if anyone knows if they all carry the gene to possibly hatch different feather types or if I will need to acquire eggs from someone that has a woolly feather hen or rooster?

It would be best to get a rooster with feathered feet

It seems like feathered feet is not just one gene

The smooth feathers are dominant and the woolly feathers are recessive.

You will need to breed wooly to wooly to ensure 100% wooly feathers. Or you at least need to know that each of your other smooth feathers carry the wooly recessive. Then you need to end up with an egg that has both recessives.

This is the theory about wooly or not...

-Wooly X Wooly= 100% wooly

-Wooly X Smooth with wooly genes= 50% wooly, 50% smooth with wooly genes.

- Smooth with Wooly genes X smooth with Wooly genes = 25% wooly, 50 % smooth with wooly genes, 25 % smooth without Wooly Gene's

- Smooth with wooly genes X smooth without wooly genes = 50% with wooly genes, 50%without wooly genes.

- Smooth without wooly genes X smooth without wooly genes= 100% without wooly genes.
