Hedemora Thread

Just wondering how Hedemoras would do in Illinois summers? This is zone 5. Too hot and humid for them? I really love the landrace breeds...

I just got 9 Hedemora eggs set in the bator! They had a rough PO experience and then a power outage delay here but I'm keeping fingers crossed!

Thought for a while that this was a pretty girl, but I think I have to face the facts and accept it's a pretty boy instead

Good luck with the eggs! Mine hatched almost 7 weeks ago

. I now am the happy owner of 15 Hedemora. Although half of them a roosters, so I will hopefully find new homes for some of them!

If Sweden were closer to Iowa I'd give some of those roosters a good home!

Hope at least some of mine hatch! First try at shipped eggs.

I'm in SE Iowa, just S of Iowa City and going to give it a try. But I will admit I have plans for a cooled, if not fully a/c, are for them in the barn if summer goes totally surface-of-the-sun crazy on us.

Did anyone ever find information anywhere for this? Was wondering what they would need, if maybe they'd molt real heavily? According to this (which might not even be a accurate area to compare with in sweden)....but maybe you wouldn't have to worry until after it got over the 75-80 degree mark?
