My son is going to love that video when he gets home from School tomorrow! Peanut is just to cute!!!

I just picked up Peanut's new girlfriend on Saturday. She's a year old and her feet are badly deformed. When she was a chick they got caught in the incubator some how. The owner raises show silkies so needed to find a new home for her. She can get around okay but its difficult for her. She kinda stands on her knees as you can kinda see. She is so tiny too!

I can't figure out what to name her.. any ideas would be welcome

I like the name " Tinkerbelle, " she is a beauty. Do you think her foot injury will cause her grief from a rooster's intentions??

I just found your thread and read thru all of it!

I'm a human nurse but when it comes to pets (animals) I'm a big WIMP! I have only had my chickens for 1 1/2 years and have done several things that I didn't think I was capable of. Even though they are alot of work & worry....lol they bring lots of love & joy!

btw, your new girl looks like a Minnie or Bella

GREAT job for everything you have done for Peanut and hope he continues to get well!

I wanted to share that your Peanut reminds me alot of my Barney! Peanut has alot more fluffy feathers than Barney.

ACK! The vet said we should do stitches on Peanut so that he could heal faster. Apparently stitches = $280! I think Peanut is trying to bankrupt me haha

DO NOT put vaseline on an open wound or anything near there bum!!!!! It is a perfect breeding environment for bacteria, wash with dawn dish soap and warm water, rinse well and make sure he's completely dry before you let him go.
Sounds really freaky.
I think deworming was the right idea, you should repeat in about a week, make sure he's eating. If you are sure they aren't maggots (from fly hatch) then worming is really all you can do except making sure he's eating and drinking.

Awww, I know he stubbed his toes but it was just so precious when he reacted by limping for a stride, just like we would. What a sweetheart.

Haha yeah I thought it was cute. That is also his bum leg from all of this. SPEAKING OF WHICH.. the vet had to pull his skin tight to close it. He already pulled the stitches out once and she told me he has to be very confined. HA! I've never ever ever seen him this hyper! He was practically running circles in the hutch! lol
