Oh I get it now, just not why it's so funny. No I didn't ride the small bus.

Quote:
No, the short bus was used for Special Ed students. So it became a not very nice slang term.

(They used a short bus because there were usually only a handful of Special Ed kids)

Apparently, discriminatory and derogatory remarks about the mentally/physically challenged individuals hasn't either.

What a shame. Not many parents of challenged kids would see the humor in that.

Apologies to the OP for going off topic.

DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN! I ride the short bus and I thought it was funny.

You do?? Aren;t you so thankful for that service?? One of our co-workers rides the short bus and calls it the short bus. I figure if the people I deal with daily call it that, well whatever.

Also, my dear, you KNOW me. I don't go out of my way to offend people on purpose. Now let me see if I can get this right because the whole thing the OP posted about is new:

MR small bus
MR NT 2 long
OYIS
UC TETBT ramp?
O MR small bus

WOW that took me longer than I thought it would.

LOL yeah I do. I don't drive a lot these days because of the neuropathy in my feet and legs because of the chemo. It's easier to ride the bus than be driving and having my legs and feet go numb on me and not being able to feel the brake!! Keeps me a little more independent. If Lurchie has to work, I can still go get groceries or go to the vet. I call it the short bus.

Deb, I know you didn't mean a thing by what you said. Shoot if we can't laugh at our own short comings we might as well go find a rock to crawl up under. Redhen's title on her ID says it all. "Life is tough, get a helmet!"

You want me to figure out what that says??!! I'm dyslexic too dang it!!!

I am sooo totally not a puzzle person, as you can tell from the start of this thread. Just not in my makeup to get stuff like that.

Debi, you have made frequent references to the "short bus" and I have always found it offensive and insensitive to those not as blessed as most are. I simply haven't spoken up until now, because you are such a powerful poster on BYC! I thought kindness was a Christian tenet, I'd best go study some more.

Please explain the funny part? I must be lacking a funny bone after all, thought my friends don't think so. Where do I start digging for it?

The wordplay is definitely amusing, but the short bus/small bus references need to go.

So basically, you knew what she meant by it, but wanted to derail a funny thread to 'teach her a lesson and call her out' basically... wow...what Christian values there!

I don't really understand why being a Christian was even mentioned.. Since when does being a Christian mean that you're kind? I know a lot of worthless people who just so happen to be Christians.
I have a feeling this thread is going to be closed soon.
