I guess if they are socialized pullets I would think 6 months would be ok. My advice may not be the best advice I am just going by my experience you may have better luck than I did, depending on age and breed. Good luck!!

Here's my 2 cents worth - I just now read in 'Chickens' mag. that smaller bantam breed roosters tend to be more aggressive than larger breeds. I have never had banties so I can't speak from experience.
Last year I got a Speckled Sussex rooster - unfortunately Fred the Fornicator became too aggressive and became Fred Fricasee........this year I'm going to try a Delaware from baby chick, fingers crossed!
