Raising chickens is great, really. I have learned so much, I get fresh eggs, and they are one of my favorite animals since I got them. I love chickens! :bow:wee
My other hobbies include gardening, blacksmithing, carpentry, bushcraft, bookwriting (I am currently writing a fantasy book), and several more. People say I have a lot on my plate, but I have until I finish highschool to decide what I want to do for sure! :old

Welcome back! I'm new as well, just went through our first spring and have learned so much here on BYC and everyone is just so fabulous! I would not have been able to do it without BYC! We are a military family who are retiring in MI! Proud Mother of two young men 25 & 17.

I have 4 Plymouth Barred Rock hens, 1 Sebright Rooster, 4 Red Sex-Links, 3 Rhode Island Reds, 5 Black Laced Wyandottes, 5 Black Sex-Links, and 3 Pekin Drakes. And 1 7month old beautiful chocolate Lab! My hubby has 3 pigs and 1 husky/malamute mix.

We started home steading because I have immune system issues and I believe I can heal myself through God and food. We just can't eat dead food and expect to live heathy...at least some of us can't. So, we decided to grow our own food.

My goal is for everyone who wants fresh, truly organic eggs, produce, bacon, ham, chicken,etc..can have access to it! I'm not looking to get Rich, and rich people shouldn't be the only ones who can eat healthy! One day I will have a Produce Pantry and feed the world one egg at a time!

We also are starting to breed Chocolate Labs. My girl, Nikki is such a sweet, loving, smart, beautiful girl!

It is nice to meet you and I look forward to getting to know you and your flock here on BYC.

Thank you for serving in the Military! I definitely appreciate it. I will be praying for your Immune System issues, and yes, God is probably the best way to solve the problem, along with healthy food. :yesss:
