Hi everyone! I've wanted chickens for years and now finally convinced (read coerced) my husband to agree
He can build ANYTHING and puts great effort into all his projects. So..... I want to get my design right the first time. Let me be clear, I have NEVER raised chickens before. I want a coop with growing room but I plan on having 4-6 chickens to start with a max at 12 later on. MY brother-in-law has chickens and will give me some starters to have eggs immediately. Maybe later let one of my hens hatch out some chicks. Anyway, LOVE this site!! So excited to be a part of this community!
To answer the introduction questions:.....
I found Backyard Chickens on Pinterist (wonderful site with great info)! I have a wonderful, talented husband who can build/create anything. Our only son is away at college. Currently we have 1 dog, a rescue border collie mutt, one moma cat and her 2 eight month old kittens. I want to have a coop for chickens this year hopefully (fingers crossed). We live in the country and have several acres but I want the coop pretty close to the house. Hubby and I haven't agreed on the location of the coop yet. As we live in central Alabama, there's no level ground anywhere so...... it will take some manuvering to get the coop in it's perfect spot
I want a BYC calender! Thanks!
